I love the gloves. Treating a great record like a valuable work of art. This song said it all for me way back when. Music for real times and real people. Perhaps, someone could use this in a soundtrack?

I'm with you regarding everything you said about the state of today's "music." You are also right on the dime about getting screwed by a record company. You know your stuff about Cobb et al. Many thanks.

I heard this song on the Radio (BBC radio 6 if anyone is interested), it is incredible. What is weird that there was another British name with the same (somewhat bizarre) name in mid-end 60's and I found them on KZread before the American band. Anyway, the British band is also recommended. Look for: CHOCOLATE WATCH BAND - What's it to you

Johnny Depp as a Chet Helms-like character -- a concert promoter circa 1966 -- 1967. This tune could be in the soundtrack. Let's bring it all back, people.

This song is great, like so many others from 40 plus years ago that no one knows about and we have to hear that crap on the radio that they call music nowadays. It makes me sick. How this song didn't become a hit is beyond me. Another case of screwed by the record company or manager, I guess. But Ed Cobb did well producing the Standells(at least they had 3 hits). Ed Cobb also wrote Tainted Love by Gloria Jones(the original) in 1964-65.

And to think -- it was all like a Haley's Comet of a social phenomenon -- all too short-lived (The Be-In/Gathering of Tribes and The Summer of Love). Now, we have social interaction via the Net. It's all sad somehow.

Up there with the most mostly,,,BUT,,i can't help but think that they were very Stones orientated. Love the Watchband and i nearly agree with you,,,BUT,,,not quite.

The record is handled with kid gloves but when it's played I can hardly hear it because of the sub par sound quality.

@oranger2525 This doesn't bring back memories for me. I never heard it until the 1980's or the other thousands of obscure 1960s records that people comped up because most of the stuff on the chart sucked and continued to suck into the 2010s. They were motivated by that fact and the love of of some great music that shouldn't sit in the closet. Let the kids have their crap that we just can't get away from no matter how hard we try.

@oranger2525 Also I might add, I'd rather listen to Lawrence Welk than hear this stuff they call music nowadays. If the Stones & Beatles made junk like that they would've never been big at all. Find a group that can compare to the quality of their records. Yes there was junk back then too, but those hardly made the charts, they died early. The trouble is that junk makes the Top 40 in the last 30 years and becomes a hit.

Actually, after listening to 1960s radio and television commercials, the music of course and the disk jockeys, almost everything after 1975 sucks. period. There are a few bright spots in which I am not totally narrow-minded. I will admit, 1980s had some good stuff, but with the over production, I can't listen to it. High tech and sterility I can't stand. After more years go by we are left to endure more bad music, lousy commercials and just, bland and boring radio year after year.

@oranger2525 True to a certain point. But at least The Watchband is the Rock n Roll era. Lawrence Welk wasn't Rock n Roll. lol You have to admit, today's music is lousy, and I am not the only 40+ year old to say it. There are thousands, if not millions of us with the same view. Having to listen to lousy music on lousy radio of today is a fate worse than death. One more point. Rap music is the worst crap ever made and it's going to last until the end of time. It's the same about TV.

@monkeeman1966 you sound like my grandfarher he'd knock artist in the 60s.The music nowdays is terrible and switch the channel to Lawrence Welk. I'm older than you, but everything changes - in the year 2035 someone will be saying, boy the music of the 2010 sure beats the hell out of what's going on now. maybe you don't care, but the quickest way to tell that someone is old, narrow minded and out of it is to knock the present and wish for the good old days.

@monkeeman1966 PLEASE REREAD MY ORIGINAL POST! this song is sucks. the only reason we like it is because it brings back memories. i'm old. pop music passed me by many years ago. the biggest sellers were and are to the 13-24 demo. there's a thing called adult contempory. check it out and stop complaing that miley and brittney aren't singing to you. the great thing about youtube is all our old favorites are here. let the kids have today and their music and we'll have ours.
