I'm trying it now for the first time and I can say it's delicious! I'm from Brazil, and a few weeks ago I visited a friend that has a cocoa orchard. He kindly gave me 10 raw fruits to bring home and try to make chocolate, which I've always wanted to do, and at the end of the process I got these cocoa bean shells. They smelled pretty chocolaty, so I got curious 'bout what still could be done with it and went searching. Found your video and decided to try it out. The tea turned out great! It has this soft chocolate taste that is left at the end and suprised me a lot! Thank you for the tip, I definitely recomend it! Love from Brazil!!

I'd like to add that if you start with cold water and the shells, bring it to a boil for a few minutes, then let it cool, you get a much richer flavor of the chocolate. If you add some nibs to the shells, you get even more chocolate flavor.

What if i only used cacao nibs? Would it have enough flavor?

@@sillyrabbit7115 the nibs would need to be ground in a mortar and pestle. Needs to be really mashed up into a paste. So would be best to just but drinking chocolate. You can order traditional drinking chocolate from a Caribbean shop.

I bought some cocoa tea recently on a visit to Hawaii and was wondering how many steeps I can get out of a serving. With many of my tea leaves and herbals, I get multiple steeps and was just wondering if it's the same for this.

I purchased some in the Dominican Republic and had the same experience. I ended up making it like loose leave chai tea. Boiled one cup of water with 3 teaspoons of cacao husks. Simmered for 3 minutes than added 1 cup milk. Boiled and steeped for 3 minutes. Strained into cup and added sweetener. I used honey. Still some bitterness but not as bad. Maybe I’ll experiment with adding cinnamon.
