My neighbor used to foster animals. Everyone treated him like a saint. Come to find out he was molesting some of the neighborhood kids. My point in saying that is, people are people. People can do some extreme acts of kindness. And that same person, can be a MONSTER!

If fostering was easy then people shouldn't be doing it.. your heart breaks twice when you Foster animals the day they come to you and you find out their backstory and the day they find their forever home.. But your remind yourself your heart breaks are nothing compared to what their heart breaks are..

Dogs are truly amazing animals. Their home is their people. Raise a pup with love and they'll be your best friend forever, no matter where life takes you. It's beyond sad to see them abandoned and unwanted. Thank goodness for people like Chris and all of the loving foster parents around the world for giving these creatures another chance at a happy life.

My sweet Cassie sat in a shelter for over 2 years. She was discovered in a field with obvious signs of abuse. She was a big girl but super sweet. I believe she was waiting for us. Cassie did not know how to play. Once she figured it out she never tore them up. We lost her 4 years ago. My heart is still broken. I have such a respect for foster families. It must be very hard letting her go. U did such an amazing job. Added 10/4/21: One of the reasons I wanted to share another story of a long-term shelter dog is to show people there is nothing wrong with animals that have been in the shelters for a long stretch. I had never rescued a dog when we fell in love with Cassie's pic online. I only found out later she had been in the shelter for 2 years. Full disclosure, if I had known this b4 falling for my big lump of a dog I may have selected another dog because I would equate long time in shelter = something wrong. This could not be further from the truth. With love and training we had an amazing, loving, loyal companion for 7 beautiful years. So please consider adopting the dog or cat that has been there the longest. I shudder to think because of my preconceived notions we would have missed out on all the laughs and love she gave us.

It was like pulling teeth to get her outside when it was raining, it could be pouring and she would walk *around* puddles. We won't talk about bath time. Lol God I love that beautiful wackadoodle. But I definitely agree she will feel much better losing a little weight and she looks like an older dog so I'm quite impressed she opened up as quick as she did.

I am a foster and was set up with a dog who had bit her previous foster when they were leaving the shelter getting into the car. That foster promptly returned the dog. I was the next foster in line and was told this dog would never be a lap dog. I was scared of her at first but as time went by, I realized she was the most loyalist dog I had ever seen. I'm not a foster but I do work with animals everyday. And you are totally correct in saying that these precious souls just need Time, Patience, and Love to blossom. From Strays brought into the clinic, to owner abandonment, to shelter surrenders who then become lucky enough to be rescued and brought to us for whatever treatments they need before they are ready for adoption. There is no greater feeling in this world than seeing the light return to their soulful eyes. Then you know you have reached them , they trust again, they love and finally they are happy again. After that the process begins of the rescue finding them their forever home. Saying goodbye is so difficult but they are going to their own family of love and we smile for them thru our tears....

I really feel for these so-called “difficult” pets. Their not difficult, they have been hurt and disappointed by humans. It takes very special humans to gain back the trust of these special animals. I cannot imagine how hard it is to learn to trust humans again. We as humans struggle to trust and forgive each other, and we have the gift of language to communicate our feelings and intentions with one another. These animals don’t have that. Sure, they have other abilities and senses that help them discern good from bad, emotions, etc.. But it’s much harder for them to understand that it is okay to trust again, that takes time, empathy, and compassion from humans. Especially when we don’t know how they were hurt and what they need to heal emotionally. I watch these videos and I’m always in awe of the difference these people make in these special animal’s lives. It’s truly beautiful.💜💜💜

That was challenging, because Bella had weight issues and needed to walk for exercise. But these great fosters didn't give up, and when Bella started to play, that was an important milestone!

Those calluses on her elbows, likely from laying on a hard-ass shelter floor.... My dog is JUST starting to get back normal skin/fur in those spots, and it's been 4 years now of regular bathing etc. to get her to that point.

If they know that you are a good person they open up and if that deep bond is there they will love you until their last breath...🐾💝🐾💝🐾💝🐾 I have the biggest respect to all fosters cause it's hard work... I couldn't do that cause I would have completly foster fails 🐾🤗🐾🤗🐾

My husband was out in the driveway working on his ‘55 Pontiac, when he looked over a big female Rottie was laying on the driveway next to his car. She was so sweet and lovely and had humongous teets, when we got her home there were 4 of the cutest puppies in the backyard 🤍 if I had 4 big babies nursing I would run away, too!

That at the beginning is not a growl. We have two labradors and the older one makes the same noise, even when she is happy about something. She isn't growling, she is communicating. Believe me, the cable man knows when she is growling.
