CHOC Children’s believes mental health treatment should be fully integrated with physical health treatment. Their psychiatry and psychology teams work closely with the medical team to attend to patients’ emotional, behavioral and developmental needs through inpatient and outpatient therapy as part of a comprehensive system of care. Last year, CHOC opened the only inpatient mental health facility in Orange County that can treat patients younger than 12. The doctors and care team are all specially trained to treat children and provide the very best patient- and family-centered care 24 hours a day, seven days a week. In addition, CHOC has developed programs such as the Co-Occurring Clinic and Intensive Outpatient Program as part of its commitment to caring for the whole child.
