In this video we take a previously unfired (by us) Chinese Type 53 to the tower and break he back in at 600 yards. The results are quite surprising for a Mosin carbine variant. Stay tuned, much more on the way.

How ironic can you get? Shooting a Russian design, Chinese made gun on a range in the state of Georgia in the United States on Independence day.

Between the loose bore, shifting winds & extremely heavy for purpose bullet, you did VERY well.

Love my M44. Call her my little thumper for the sound, fire ball, and kick!
Glad to see that Chad is back. Happy Independence Day to you guys, and thanks for everything you do!
I am actually impressed that the carbine length Mosin is hitting that well at that distance. The energy it was hitting the gong with was crazy. Great video.

my type 53. accurizzzed with trigger and bolt work set into monte carlo, utg tri rail and vortex glass. sub MOA. no joke. was a bout to order a custom barrel and i decided to acid wash the barrel. blue and grey ran out and i saw shine. did it a couple more times till clean. ran a brush. swabbed like 1000times. and was like chrome. so much copper and lead. sub moa 100yd with monarch academy ammo. RESULTS MAY VARY GREATLY... Can shoot all day. love the kick in the syn stock
Eric and Chad doing some long range shooting = ULTIMATE CHADS
Great vid as usual guys! Glad you're back Chad :-) Thanks Eric & Happy 4th to both y'all & your families.
You guys are awseome!!! Don't stop doing what you do and being yourselves!!!! Thank you!!!!
Thank you, an ALL NEW TYPE 53 posting! Just 5 years ago they were $80 fix-em ups!
This is the best series, i love it! Keep it up :)
Thanks for sharing. 600 yards w/open sights. Impressive.
Happy Independence Day!!!!! Let Freedom Ring. Freedom Isn't Free. Welcome back Chad...missed you in the recent vids. Looks like you guys had another fun day at the range.
Great as alway Eric & Chad.... love it!
Happy 4th, in my experience with this rifle, I have the 1954 edition of this T53 and mine hates bear claw brass and steel case ammo. I've had the same issue at 600 yards as Eric. Granted given my crap eye sight, I cheated and took off the rear sight for the drop in pictany rail and put a Tasco optic on it. Now it holds zero and if your using the steel lacquered, Yugoslavian silver tips, you can hit target 9 times out of 10 all day long. My rifle was used rather well, had to redo the wood stock and fix old age to make it snug again, but it's very reliable and almost perfect bore. It keeps great accuracy with Milsurp ammo, but with hot loads above that, accuracy at 600 plus yards, good luck. At 850 yards, Milsurp ammo is your best chance, again in my experience with said rifle. Great show guys. Also check under the steel buttplate and see if your stock has swastikas in it, mine has 2 under the buttplate and 2 under the top hand rail.

giving you a shout-out from Arizona godspeed God bless happy Fourth of July
I own 3 t53's. I would like to own 3 more. They are extremely well built guns. The bores are wrong out quite a bit but the steel and bluing and everything else is as good as it gets. Also the chu wood is awesome for a jungle rifle. I still love my 91/30s.
I’m loving the 600 yrd surplus videos
Happy 4th of July everybody. I brought home my first mosin last weekend and shot it Saturday. That gun shot beautifully. I was impressed at 300 yards how accurate it was. I expected to have a little more tenderness in my shoulder. But, it was pleasant to shoot. Thanks for all the education and videos.

I’ve been shooting a bunch of old mil surp lately. So my shoulder has been used to the punch. My .300 wsm takedown has the worst shoulder punch of all my rifles. I really dislike shooting that one.
Love my T53. Compact and indestructible but hits like a truck. I’m surprised you can keep on target at 600 yards with iron sights. Well done. Thanks for sharing. Not enough appreciation for the lil T53 on KZread.
Nice vid bro I own a 1955 one of these with all the markings minus the front wood on the barrel and the bayonet,Happy 4th!!!!!
Holy Crap that's a beat up T53!! I have one in Excellent condition and I use it as one of my main hunting rifles. It is insanely accurate. I do use high power hand loads with good quality projectiles either Hornady or Sierra!! I also have an M44 in Mint condition. I put 20 rounds through it to test it actually worked and was sighted in then mothballed it!! Sacrilege to shoot a rifle in the kind of condition as it would have been coming off the production line but I did have to make sure it worked!!

Happy Birthday "MERICA"!!!! 130.00 5 Yrs ago, 360.00 now, Thanks IV8888 & C&R
My T53 is weird as hell. The stock is absolutely beautiful, the trigger is insanely light, the receiver ring has 19542 as the manufacture date, the receiver has the two holes where the PU scope mount goes, the bolt is very smooth and probably some more things.
I have a type 53 with a archangel stock and 10rd mag. So much fun to shoot
Awesome. Love these videos. I’ve been trying to get a Mosin for a while now. They’re kind of scarce in south GA for any reasonable amount of $
that click clack when it's fully loaded sounds so soothing
Got a couple of those from buds several years back. Probably the same batch. They’re fun.
Have a Happy Independence day IV8888.
Would really like to see what a m44 or type 53 thats in really good condition could do at 600. Maybe even a slightly thinner front sight too.
That looks like a blast!

Living the dream guys. Respect and love to all shooters in the US from us downtrodden shooters in the UK.
I grabbed 4 of these bad boys back when Bud's had them for $110 bucks. One was all matching. All had nice bores and one even had a decent stock. I wish we knew the history of these.... I think they came from Albania along with the military Chinese SKS's. What they did there and where they were before Albania, nobody seems to know. Brown Bear....I always wonder how these different 54r rifles would do with some handloads but I know Eric is probably so busy these days he doesn't have a lot of time to reload. I've never been impressed with ANY commercial 54r ammo, even match PPU and 600 yards is realllly pressing something like Brown Bear. Best loaded ammo I've shot in 54r is the old corrosive surplus match in the white and blue boxes, unobtanium these days but Grafs sold it up until about 2 years ago. Amazing stuff. Usually I shoot .312 Hornady 174gr match bullets with 4064 or 185gr .312 cast and Reloader 7. Sierra .311 MK's are good but most of my large fleet of Mosins like the .312 Hornady better.
I love my Type 53. It's the ugliest gun I've ever handled, but also has the smoothest action under $2,000!

I'm really thinking about getting one. It'll compliment my 1937 Tkika since I don't have a carbine length mosin yet. In fact I bought the Tikka for 150 bucks about 9 years ago and didn't know how great of a deal I got. I even have a Fiskars bayonet/scabbard for it. I really want to expand my mosin collection now
Impressive results for iron sights and a worn bore.
I have had 12 of these I bought in one lot many years ago, and kept 2, the best one and broken stocked one that is now in a Boyds stock and the other very nice Military issue. After watching this I need to actually shoot one of these rifles for the first time........ ever...

My type 53 looks like it was drug through a mud pit and then used as a boat oar. I swapped the rear sight with a mojo sight and it shoots 3-4 moa with 204 grain Barnaul when I do my part. I can smack a 12 inch gong at 300 yards dang near every time from the bench. The type 53 is the most accurate mosin I own. Mine has strong rifling and it’s nice and shiny. I love that that little chicom rifle.

Beautiful gun
Chad's 3rd shot visibly hit where the 10 would be on a clock on the target plate, the First contact shot I could see. And this is at 600 yards? Wow. Chad's second shot hit it at an inch below 3 o'clock.
Happy belated 4th to you and yours boys
I have one type 53 and it's awesome I love shooting it....
My uncle brought one of those back from Vietnam. I shoot it on new years eve, and i wont get rid of it.
I love my 1942 Mosin except my front sight blade is bent inside the protector ring so the scope I added has made all the difference
I was really hoping for an m1 garand at 600 for the 4th of July
just yesterday i was messing atound with a M1944 finish mosin at the range those things are fun
Great video as always. many years ago had the privilege of shooting next to a young marine with a Romanian M44 and he was getting a 50% hit rate against an 18" diameter steel plate at 600-yards. he said he was on leave but was on his way to fallujah 2 very soon.

A Type53 was the first big rifle my stepdad got me. As a 16th birthday present. 2,200 rounds of surplus later I can make her sing and hit the notes just right.
It's that round man 7.62R is no joke. Family has been dropping moose at over 600 yds for over a century

Did you guys ever do the in-depth follow up video of this? I can’t find it if you did
I bought three of these for $99 back in the early 90's and all three were in better shape then the one you shot. Great cheap Deer gun.
Got a m44 a few weeks ago. Fun to shoot
Good shooting! I have one of these Chinease type 53. I have killed several deer with them. The type 53 is a good target and hunting rifle. The type 53 in the Korean War was used be the Chinease and North Korean s.David Back from Menifee county Kentucky. God bless.
Everybody should buy one for it is a hard hitter and cost less plenty of ammo out there
I got 2 mosins love them both
Were these sighted in with the bayonet extended as well as the other Mosin? I have an M44 but I usually don't shoot it with the bayonet extended. It's a tack driver out to 250yd for me.

John Garand what ammo do you use?
I've shot a sporterized Springfield M1894 30-40 Krag out to 750 yards with 180gr Remington pointed soft point high velocity ammunition with great consistency. Id love to see your take on that oddball rifle at 600 yards with the original 220gr round nose loads.
The stock looks like a beaver and a wolverine got into a fight. I am going to shamelessly steal that line. Well done troops.
I have a Russian mm44 carbine from 1945 the barrel is pitted but it’s super accurate at long range with the bayonet out
Should definitely be a ww1 era enfield and 03 Springfield with the tangent sites at 600 yards next. Good job
I love my M44 carbine. I wonder if retracting the bayonet would have affected it at 600 yards? It would have been interesting to compare.
'Merica!!🇺🇸🇺🇸 Happy 4th O July fellas
That Mosin is good to 750 yards all day long, with the right ammunition. Cheap, inconsistent loads will give you exactly that; one shot high, next low right etc. load some Sierra 200 Gr with decent bench rest primers and you'll see very improved consistency.
I really enjoy shooting my Type 53 as well
