Imagine having the towing capacity of a train....Which is the oldest successful Hybrid electric drivetrain in the world..... And being able to recoup 30% of the energy you spent going up the hill, coming down the other side. If the truck carrying the foam was the same, and the one pulling concrete were an EV? The EV would not even slow down...... Trucking companies will gladly give up 5000 lbs hauling capacity a trip to give it the range they need if its going to cost them 60% less in fuel and maintenance. Hell There are trailer manufacturers who are already prototyping EV drivetrains ON the trailers. You can fit 10kw of solar on a 53' dry goods unit. It operates by a strain gauge on the ball of the trailer, the more the truck pulls, the more it contributes. when the truck slows it goes into regeneration and slows as well.

@@davefroman4700 and then use tidal wave energy technology on the shock absorbers and suspension. each time the shocks move up and down during vehicle operation, electricity is generated to provide continuous battery charging. For regions with no developed charging network, turn the trucks into series hybrids(all hail the diesel-electric loco)...remove the gearboxes and propellor shaft. fit a suitably sized alternator on the engine(make it a Genset). then on the differential fit a motor of appropriate power. now cable the Genset to the motor and there we go!...add in a supercapacitor(its lighter and charges and discharges faster than a lithium batt) to recover power during slow down which can be redeployed automatically once a certain SOC in the supercapacitor is attained.

@@davefroman4700 I wouldn't call a locomotive a hybrid. It's more of a diesel with an electric drivetrain. The regeneration is just a braking system. It is not stored and the diesel has to be running to have any kws. However, I do agree. Trucks should have gone to the same form of power delivery long ago.

Nothing sounds like an old 2-stroke Detroit Diesel. Got a friend of mine who has a 75 Peterbilt 359 Long Nose with the 13.9L V12 (12V71). It has 2 turbos, and with ONLY 14 psi boost total, it pushes 930 HP @ 2700 rpm and 2440 lb. ft of torque @ 1600 rpm, not to mention a 3000 rpm redline.

@@kxnk3935 That Kenworth probably had way more HP and torque than the Chinese truck. If the Chinese adhere to the European custom, that truck produced 420HP, whereas the Kenworth probably has about 550HP. That extra 130HP also means the Kenworth has more torque. Then there's the question of what gearbox does the Chinese truck have: a 16-speed, a 12-speed, an 8-speed or maybe even just a 6-speed. Those big Kenworth's have 12-speed, 16-speed and sometimes even 18-speed gearboxes. And last but not least: how heavy was its load? Without having more data it's hard to say why that Chinese truck had so much trouble getting up that hill. It could even have been driver error, as in not selecting the proper gear at the proper time, allowing the truck to bog down.

Who has the same load as him. Doesn't have the patience and decide to gas it as fast it could eventually overtaking the Struggling Isuzu truck. And started to horn at him by the time he got ahead by the Isuzu. LMAO i even see the driver and his 2 companions on the truck laughing at the Isuzu while they successfully descend on climbing thd steepy hill top. Dang hearing that Howo engine roaring is like music to my ears the same with that isuzu truck. We also have american semi truck and old kenworth here aswell. A four axle straight dump truck can be heavier than a 5 axle tractor trailer no matter the make or model for starters. Another is the gear ratio and torque rating. Third is the grade of the hill to climb and last is the driver. I've never driven a Chinese class 8 vehicle yet I doubt very seriously that nothing beats American trucks when it comes to power and torque. Back in the eighties I got to drive R model macks with a five speedd maxidyne and didn't drop a gear on some pulls and also have driven Detroit Diesel 6V-71's & 8V-71's and you could mention hill and I'm dropping and splitting gears. Then I've had a Catapillar 3406 B twin turbo that pulled hills in the western U.S. like a "Raped Ape looking for revenge. Catapillar is out of the truck diesel business but by far my favorite motor, but mechanical not electronic version.

Put a Filipino behind the wheel and that baby will fly up the hills. Howo and Shacman trucks are very used here and they can do alot with a good driver. Very tough too, put them through insane challenges and the thing will keep on driving forward.
