Chinese President Xi Jinping has arrived in Paris for talks with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron. Xi was greeted at Elysee Presidential Palace by the French president and a military honour guard on May 6, 2024. The leaders attended a trilateral meeting involving EU Commission chief Ursula von der Leyen, and will be followed by a state banquet hosted by Macron at the presidential palace. Macron has said he hopes to persuade Xi to shift positions over Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and address imbalances in global trade.
