After more than a decade searching throughout China, Sun Haiyang and his wife finally found their missing son Sun Zhuo. In 2007, he was lured away by a stranger while playing on the street. According to Chinese state media, the boy’s abductor has been arrested. The family were reunited 14 years later in Shenzhen after a DNA test confirmed the boy’s identity.

This is actually an ultimate sad story. The father in this story is a true hero in China. Throughout those 14 years, he has help countless families to reunite with their child. Yet, when he finally found his son, the son decided to stay with his adoptive family. The son doesn't have any memory of his biological parents. His whole life, all his memory are with his current family, and they treated him very well. The result of this story cause lot of uproar in China about the need to change the kidnapping and children trafficking's law. The current law is not harsh enough for the kidnapper or the seller (5-25 years), and way too lenient for the buyer (up to 5 years). Also the right of recourse is too short (only 5 years). It's heart breaking that this father found his son physically, but didn't get him back in reality. He can't even press charge or file a civil law suit against his son's adoptive parents (the buyer) because the recourse period expired. The only silver lining is the kidnapper was arrested and now in jail

If this is true. Then I can totally understand the feelings of the boy. Obviously he had been well cared for him to want to stay back with his adoptive parents. Though they did the wrong thing. The biological parents might be mostly relieved that the boy is alive and well and the boy can keep meeting his biological parents and stay with them during holidays etc. Many children are not lucky and are kidnapped for worst reasons leading in their death and abuse. Obviously no one can give back those years of torment and guilt to the biological parents but the boy is alive well and cared for and eventually he will understand that his place is with his biological family. But this is such a sad story it should never have happened. The boy should never have been forcefully snatched from his parents. This is a big crime on the part of the adoptive parents.

Being led away at 4 years old, probably changing quite a few hands, and then eventually being given to another family could certainly be something he remembered. Im sure that would be a very confusing and upsetting time for a four year old. Since he's 18 he might have started to look for his parents on his own. @Lia L Of course there’s no official adoptive process. The amount of child kidnappings in China is extreme and this “newspaper” never report any critical about why they even happen. The amount of kidnappings doesn’t happen in other countries. People don’t systematically steal children and sell them to other people. If that happens, it’s going to be dealt with by the police the governments Interpol Europol etc and widely reported in the media. In my country if a child goes missing or any person goes missing there are warming systems and work in place and most are found well (like seniors with Alzheimer’s or accidents or illness) A missing child is acted upon immediately and there are no child kidnappings, it’s unheard of. If the police is stuck looking for a missing adult they work closely with accredited groups who scan areas systematically for months even. Kidnapping is a very serious crime. Here kids are safe to go out and play unsupervised, they take public transport, walk to school and friends. Sexism in China is also never properly dealt with or acknowledged. But as long as the CCP is in control, the Chinese people will never see real changes. But the people who follow this channel don’t seem to get any of this.

The couple bought him from a human trafficker (who probably is the abductor himself) because they couldn't give birth to a son, even though, they already have two daughters at the time. On the other hand, his biological father searched for him for 14 years nonstop. Like a third of the country must know his story, a movie was made based on his tragic experience, and for what? I can't imagine the void he must be feeling right now.

Unfortunately, some of those newly found kids refuse to associate with their biological parents. Instead, they would rather stay with the family who purchased them from human traffickers. I would rather not call them 'foster parents' when they are essentially buyers in the human trafficking business.

Not even C-netizens call them adopted parents. They said that is an insult to actual adopted parents who adopt their children legally.

Wow, this father has been searching far and wide for his son til he finally him. He must’ve felt relieved after 14 years of heartache and sorrow in not finding his son for that long. Incredible

From the boy's pov that could be tough though. Mom of 14yrs arrested and being hugged by a man that was a stranger to him. I hope they find the best solution for all parties and truly reconcile, not just physically but emotionally too.

I hope the biological parents will be ok! No mercy for the abductive parents who bought a boy just for a family inherit!! As for the boy...I know he's confused but he chose the criminals just for money....
