CHINESE NEW YEAR (Spring Festival) with my family | EP7, S2
It is Chinese new year, and that's how my family celebrates our spring festival!
The spring festival is the most important festival in Chinese culture, it's a time for family reunion! After 3 years, I am finally back home for the spring festival of the year of the rabbit! We did a big project, including cooking, writing couplets, giving red envelope, setting fireworks, etc.
I missed it so much!
Happy Spring Festival to you all! And wish you good fortune!新年快乐,恭喜发财!

These videos need to be played all over the US. I’m American and I’m a veteran. The machine that runs my country is framing China as the next big enemy. I’ve seen war and it’s horrible. If the regular people see each other as we are then perhaps we can avoid war in the long term. It’s so heart breaking. China, America, Russia… everyone… you’re regular people are pretty much the same and we can all get along.

Happy New Year Yan...Since I discovered your channel a few months ago, I have been following your adventures as you blogged your way from Europe to China. I am an 80 year old Chinese man born in Kuala Lumpur but have been living in Australia for the past 40 years. Your demeanor, laid back style and no frills commentaries are compelling and addictive. I have , in particular loved your series on Malaysia.....very accurate and really nostalgic for me.... particularly with the images of food (really missed the food) and life style. I also lived in China for a year in 1980 as a pioneer teacher of English in the Dalian Inst. of Foreign Languages in Dalian, Liaoning Province. I loved China and have kept going back throughout the years.....just so proud of what the country has achieved over the past 40 years. You are a very pleasant and impressionable young lady and I wish you all the best❤👍in your future ventures !!!! All the best !!!

I discovered your videos a couple of weeks ago, and I love them! You are showing us the real China, not the one that our politicians likes to present us. China is a great country, with very friendly people. I love how respectful and family oriented everybody is. ❤ Keep your great job,, teaching us about China. (I am from New Jersey, USA).
omg I never thought India and China has sooo much in common, this is more or less how we celebrate new year (traditional) in Karnataka its called Ugadi. In my village, we celebrate in very very similar way. I am living in Germany now I really really miss homeeee. I have many Chinese friends here, so who knows I will travel to China to meet them in future!!
The little girl, your niece is adorable! Really like that you translated her words as well.
I want to say that this is one of the kindest and sweetest videos I've watched in many months. I want to wish you and your family happiness and joy! Keep making us happy with videos like this! You are all so sweet!
Happy New Year of the Rabbit Yan, from all my family here in the UK. Your video of your family joined together in celebration, so many generations following traditions is so beautiful to share and made me smile.

Delightful family scenes!!!So heart warming and the continuation of 4500 year Chinese traditions and customs. Your little niece is too cute!! Loved it when she said “please speak Chinese so that I can understand” lol
There's really nothing quite like celebrating CNY with your entire extended family in China. Since I moved from China to the US at the age of 4, I've only gotten to experience this once, and I will always cherish that memory. I still remember how my cousin and I set off firecrackers just outside our grandparents' residential building and how my aunt, dad, and uncle fussed over the food preparations in their itty bitty kitchen (by American standards, anyway). I may not ever experience all of that again - at least, not while my remaining grandparents are alive. My aunt's husband happens to be a talented amateur calligrapher, as was my grandfather, so it's lovely to see that our families have something in common.
This was really fun! Sort of reminds me of Easter celebrations when I was a child 65 years ago. We got creative coloring Easter eggs, just as you all went beyond the darling rabbit buns to other forms. The cooking & going out to the garden & eating together. And yes, checking on your employment prospects!
You are my happiness.❤❤bangladesh😮😮
This is so much like deewali festivals in India we too burn lots of crackers and fireworks , families get together and pray and eat ..exchange gifts .. absolutely a heartwarming episode ❤
Happy New Year to you and your family! Here in Malaysia, only those who are married give out red packets. We give it to our parents, children and anyone who is unmarried, no matter their age.

This video was an absolute delight but your niece stole the show. She was very cute. I loved the rabbit steamed buns! I was born in England but have lived most of my life in Australia. China is feared by the west and not trusted. This video and your sharing the the real people of China will hopefully bring some healing. I love the fact that you show things the way they are. Nothing filtered just every day life. I hope 2023 is a happy and prosperous year for you and that you achieve your goals to being self funded by YT. You provide great honest content and it is refreshing and humbling as well. Thank you Yan.
Beautiful! Thank you and your family for sharing 🙂 And Happy New Year

Xin Nian Kuai Le! from UK. My Chinese wife loves your videos, but it brought tears to her eyes, as she missed being with her family in Jinan this year. We had real rabbit for Spring Festival Eve, but it didn't work well, as she fried it too long and I wanted to make a rabbit stew.

Happy rabbit year. The children in your family are really cute. What a surprise to see that you eat gegen . It looks like cassava (in English they use the African word). Very appreciated in Brasil too, they call it mandioca or macaxeira or aipim (the Amerindian word). They boil it, fry it, prepare purée or flower out of it. In Spanish speaking countries of South America they call it yuca.
I really envy people who have big happy families. Thanks for sharing some joy with us!

Actually, a woman visiting Malaysia from China says that they seem to keep up with more traditional celebrations here than in China. My wife made us wear red yesterday, she long planned & made big dinner the night before for reunion, and all the women wore cheongsam, we did the firecrackers by day & fireworks by evening, played the famous new year songs and danced to them, etc. My role was to give out the ang pow LOL
