Chinese Mini Excavator: We have a strainer PROBLEM!

Take a good look at your hydraulic tanks and make sure the suction strainer is not just laying in the bottom of the tank. #minidigger #agrotk #agt

Also, maybe add "(in-tank filter)" or something like that to the title of the video. I agree that "strainer" is more accurate, but just to help people find this video. This is an impotent issue that I'm sure we would all like to catch early! Thanks for all the helpful info!

Wow that's crazy! Hope you show a video of putting it on and possibly sharing the size for purchasing a new one. Keep up the great work!

I did my first hydraulic fluid change after about 6 hours of run time. Was not excited by the metal shavings that came out of the drain plug... Looked more like drilling shaving from installing the tank (at the factory) than something wearing in the system. So hopefully they were always in the tank and the strainer kept most of it from taking a round trip. There was also a good amount of fine metal flakes, looked more like breaking/wear. No ideal if it was more or less than typical. I have a model with a horizontal tank (which has issues on slope. If the inlet side is up hill it's easy to lose suction and presser ( I want to make an expansion tank so I can fill it more without it over flowing at temp). But it was pretty easy to unbolt the inspection cover and clean out the whole tank and check the strainer. Mine was loosening but still threaded on! Going to add a lock washer and/or locktite to the strainer.

Do you just change what is in the tank or is there a way to bleed the whole system?

@@jhughes3867 I just drained the tank and cleaned it out well by hand. Then put in the minim amount of fluid needed to keep the pickup covered on flat ground, and then ran the machine for a a little while while moving all of the cylinders to there min/max positions (if possible) dive around a little as well. Than drain the fluid again. I got a brand new, white 5 gal bucket with lid so I had the option of reusing the fluid if necessary. (White so you can better see the debits). I had enough new fluid to just use that, obviously better if you can. The main reason I did all this was to see how it looked after cleaning out the tank. I was hopping it all was there from the start and not the machine eating itself. I also drained through a big funnel that had a screen in it, which mad it easier to see if there were any big chunks coming out.

Just had the same problem, but with mind, both the suction and the return came off destroying the pump, going to be placing a remote return filter.

I had to check my excavator after seeing your video. I used a coat hanger to find it in the hydraulic oil tank, I could find top of the filter so it is standing up. Thanks for information on what happened to your machine. I will be adding your filter and oil cooler to my machine Thanks again, Paul

You know what would be a good mod? a high lift kit that would mount the main lift cylinder a little lower on the boom so the boom could come all the way to the bar in front of the controls. so the hoses on the back of the boom just about touch that bar. it would give it about a foot more lift maybe. i find myself wishing it could lift a bit higher when loading brush and stuff into a dump trailer with high sides. just a little spacer block between the top of the cylinder and the boom. They make them for the big hoes that load logs so they can lift higher.

So how exactly do you reach into the hydraulic tank and put that back on? That can't possibly be done from the fill cap can it? I need to see if mine is on there or not. Because I have one in my parts kit that came with the machine. Which could mean it's a spare, or it's the one that should be on there now. (ugh) Also, put a telescoping magnet in the bottom of your gas tank. I got a ton a iron filings out of the Briggs gas tank. A ton. I must have wiped off the magnet a dozen times before it was mostly clean. Also just look with a flashlight. I could easily see the pile of iron sediment below the pickup in the gas tank.

I had a ton in my gas tank too. It clogged up my carb so I had to remove it and give it a good cleaning. I used a siphon hose to suck the particles out of my tank.

I saw a video out of China called 'how to change hydraulic oil filter for 1ton mini excavator', the bolts around the fill have to be removed and the top of the tank taken off.

Oh and by the way DOD and the US economy are dependent on "State" manufactured components... "Assembled in the USA" with world sourced parts..
