Very cool; I had no idea they had specific hand signs for 6-10 in China. It's interesting that in China you put your fingers up for 1-5, since in Korea, they put their fingers down. So you start with your fingers up, then close them as you count. And I'm pretty sure they do the opposite direction, too, so you put the index finger down first, etc. so that the pinky ends up standing for one. Fascinating that somewhere closer to China does it more differently than somewhere farther away like the US.

It finally makes sense why the guy was always making a gun sign when he mentioned the money owed him at 800 in Blood of Youth

That was fascinating. I'm more familiar with the Taiwanese signs. Your sign for eight means seven in Taiwan. I'll have to be more careful next time I'm in Shanghai!

Interesting, I had no idea there were different versions in Taiwan, although it doesn't surprise me.

This reminds me of the time I went to an chinese ala-carte restaurant. They where using the Chinese tally mark (正) system to keep track of how meny of one item we ordered. My mom asked what they where so I doodled down on a napkin how it works and compared it to the western version. Our waiter, a 20 something dude came over and over heard the end of my ted talk. He got really excited that I knew what the marks meant and exclaimed that the "western" marks where used in Taiwan. I Find it really funny that even in his happy that I knew about the tally system he had to add the part of Taiwan. I still wonder to this day whether he was trying to spin that "fact" as a negative or positive.

Lol. Interesting. Yeah... It reminds me of a time I met a Taiwanese guy while in Mainland. We were both on a panda tour in Chengdu.

Hahah the surfer symbol I've always known as Hang Ten. So you could mean to say six and it come across as ten.

Not sure about Singapore. But yeah, they will prove very useful whenever you're in China.

Honestly I don't care about Chinese culture and stuff (excluding fantasy novels ofc😅) but it's interesting how they remain so different (exotic) even though many countries adopt western cultures(even I don't know some of the words in my language and I use English words unknowingly). For number gestures we use Index:1 Index+middle:2 Mid three fingers:3 All fingers excluding thumb:4 All 5:5 Thumb:6 Thumb +index:7 and so on adding subsequent fingers till 9 And we don't have any for 10🤔. I just use 5 two times🤣. Is it same for others too??

Why don't you make reviews about the novels you translated? Put a nice art as the thumbnail for it to look good.

Wouldn't it be kind of weird to review my own work? In any case, I do have videos about the things I've translated: I Shall Seal the Heavens: kzread.info/dash/bejne/p5qXrbKQmZXHZ6g.html A Will Eternal: kzread.info/dash/bejne/l5x4lMeAgpjZhKQ.html Legends of Ogre Gate: kzread.info/dash/bejne/g5ykltdvcaWqp8Y.html Of my major works, the ones left are Sage Monarch and Righteous Blood, Ruthless Blades, I do intend to do videos on them as well.

@@Deathblade You're right, but it would be introduced to people who didn't read them. And who knows, it might have a lot of views. Doesn't hurt to try😂. You could also edit the video with a lot of nice art about the topic and stuff, but it would probably take too much work. Just need a nice tumpnail and title.

@@Deathblade Oh, I didn't know that you already did it, but I watched the Ogre Gate video. Don't know about KZread copyright laws, but you should consider showing pictures of this genre while talking about the novels. Though that's a lot more work and don't know if you can find the time to edit it all.
