So for about 1/75 of the price you can get 70 percent of the bass. And arguably the shape is the most unique part of this bass so that's gotta be worth half the appeal. I understand people want to pay 15.000$ to have a piece of authentic luthieristic art, but don't try telling me it's 12.000$ technically better than everything else in the market. It's a piece of art, but not a portal to a different musical universe. But then again, the two most primitive guitars in production the les Paul and Stratocaster are the staples of guitar music.

That arguement could definitely be made about the highest of the high priced instruments from most boutique makers. If you get into their more entry level instruments without all the bells and whistles and compare them to the less expensive brands the extra money spent makes a complete difference. They are just a better quality product.

When you get into custom instruments like fodera you’re getting something COMPLETELY tailored to your taste. Woods, pickups, scale length. Not just a bunch of off the shelve parts. And honestly that’s not for everyone. Most people are happy with mass produced instruments, and that’s fine, but to own a custom instrument is a treat.

Thus you may never be able to learn the right way to build one of your own or to modify properly. Maybe warmoth can satisfy you most! Please help us to keep the fake away! Pity you've recorded this with a camera/phone/laptop mic, it'd prob sound a lot better recorded direct and with finger playing not slapping the heck out of it. I always think that slapping and popping makes all basses sound terrible. Most of these Chinese basses are ok, it depends where you buy them from. But they almost all need a bit of work, some just a decent setup, like almost any expensive bass would. I have two lefty 5 string jazz basses off AliExpress and they're both usable, the one is actually pretty good. I sold all my Ibbys and Corts after that coz they sounded lousy and they had some bad dead spots.

See what a Mike Pope preamp cost, that's what the real fodera bass has. I guess when you go the cheap route, you better have some standby cash ready to go, cause practically every Chinese copy of American high end basses almost always have some disappointing electronic issues. When you spend $2-$350, if you have to spend maybe $500, more, you still came out good. A real fodera cost ( depending on model) cost $5 - $7000 dollars 😢

Just in case anyone cares, music used to be about playing worthwhile music and one's ability to do so. Great music is not at the mercy of inexpensive guitar copies. A good musician can make a cheap guitar sound fine. A very expensive guitar can't help the unmusical cretins among us.

When you buy these knock offs you are supporting and encouraging people who steal builders ideas. It is a lot of work to build a custom bass or guitar for some jerk to rip off a design someone put there heart into. Yes it looks kind of like the original but for the same money you can buy a squier or Ibanez that is better quality and not encourage criminals to rip off peoples designs.

If you mean the single cutaway: I understand that that way there is more connection between the neck and the body which makes for better definition in the higher register, more sustain and better neck stability.
