Chinese Diesel Heater With Intake Air Filter Purchased From Million Billion

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

*19:42 NOTE ITS A CO DETECTOR NOT CO2*
**My garage is unfortunately too well ventilated, if you were thinking of installing this diesel heater in a closed environment like a campervan never take combustion intake air from inside, also it is advised the mounting plate is your seal between all that is inside to that which is outside **
So the cold has got the better of me and found myself in need of a workshop heater, so I purchased one of these Chinese diesel heaters from Million Billion on ebay. Because of the unclean air in the workshop either the heater needed to draw air from outside or an air intake filter was required. If you just want to see what the results/findings of the Air Intake Filter are then skip to: 13:15*

That's a really good quality installation. I'm very impressed by your attention to detail and neatness. Seen so many untidy lash up installations. Perhaps most folks don't think it matters but I do and your efforts are very professional and an example to all in how it should be done. Probably the reason it is working so well and giving zero trouble. Thanks for sharing the video ☺

Great idea on the filter. Bet it'll help keep the dust out on normal installations. It looks like the manual says there shouldn't be more that 0.15kPa drop in pressure on the inlet so you could knock up a simple U tube manometer to keep an eye on the pressure drop. I to have bought one of these for my garage/workshop and it arrived today. I'm using an old computer power supply to run mine. I'll be running mine on kerosene on the thinking it shouldn't soot up as much as running on diesel. Love the power supply box you built, it looks very industrial.

Its been a month now since it first ran and its been brilliant running 4 hours a day. I have only ever ran it on Esso diesel (fuel card) so other fuels have only been a thought, I have messed about with the upper fuel settings now and its mega hot 6Hz 5000rpm and still running clean when i had a quick peak inside the chamber so Im just going to leave it as is now. Now that manometer idea is a good call, I think I may do just that, cheers....

There are some really bad installs in vans, buy a D2 for a campervan as it will shut off completely and restart as required, they are smoother/quieter running, these Chinese ones although very good value and very warm do not shut down completely unless turned off, they just run lower rpm a D2 will do it all, but yes they are dear.

FYI that is a 5Kw heater. the chinese ones only come in 2 & 5Kw, the 8 is false advertising . output on the 8 is the same as a 5, tested and prooven by many youtubers. they are exact same size and exact same components .

Nice build its always interesting to see how other people install theirs. There are no 8 kw diesel heaters, it has been proven so many times measuring the heat output on youtube, it is just a marketing ploy to reign people in . there are 2k w and 5 kw heaters, the ones with water heaters are available in 16 kw models.but they are huge in size. mine is outside in a custom built box but mine runs off a 75 amp battery in case of a powercut which will fry the electronics board because the fan will not be able to run if it shuts down prematurely . if you connect a 20 amp battery charger to the battery there will be enough charge in reserve to charge the battery whilst the heater is running. they dont block up if you run the heater on full chat for 10 mins before shutting it down cleaning only needs doing after roughly 2 years of use. 8 to 10 hours a day .

Personally I cant fault these heaters from China. The best 90 quid Ive ever spent on my car. I wake up , hit the remote and the car is defrosted and hot. Yes faults can occur but a bit of common sense and some diy skills will usually resolve the issue. My only gripe is the LCD displays fade if left on permanently. I can honestly say this is one of the good things to come out of China as I personally could not justify a thousand quid for a erbacher for 3 months use per year in the uk.

Nice set up !!! I have the same 8kw heater. The bigger the space to heat the more diesel it sucks. Best way to save on diesel is to set the temp for 1 degree under the room temp before you turn it on. This way it doesn't spend it's time running on high and drinking so much diesel. It heats well but give it time to raise the temp in the room slowly. I use a ocelating fan pointed towards the celling, it moves the heat around the room nicely.

Drawing combustion air from the workspace isn't a very good idea. Best case, it promotes intrusion of exterior air into the heated area. Worst case in a well sealed space, it depletes available air. Both inlet and exhaust for the combustion chamber are intended by design to be outside the heated space.

@@TinkerBod lol, I suspected sealing and insulation wasn't much of an issue, or your fume extractor would implode the walls, ROFL. But, it still draws in unheated air, markedly decreasing efficiency of the heater, as recirculation of air is pretty much how those little puppies manage to work their magic. Are you planning to put the outlet low? If not, you could well end up with summer temps in your rafters, but little actual benefit much below your shoulders due to stratification. Pumping the hot air across the floor level would at least give convective circulation, and a more even workspace heat

I would love nothing more than to have floor ducts but i have zero room and I mean zero room, if i did have room i would put a bridgeport miller there 😀. Soon I will have a new house & worskhop as I so want to expand, I have the ability just not the room and the machines, but until then the heater in the air is set at 26deg so 1m downwards a chap with a warm head can work. 👍

Your exaust is too long and will add resistance or back pressure causing the over temp shut off switch to engage. If your exceeding the factory length on the exaust or intake it's suggested you increase the diameter of the tubing to keep the resistance at a minimum. Go to the "Eberspacher" heater website and you'll find all the technical information regarding that heater. Great video ✌️

Hi! Neat setup! So since you posted the video, how has it been? I’m considering this for my 6x6m semi insulated garage, in Sweden... at worst it’ll have to cope with -10c outside temp. Do you have any figures of how much fuel it uses, and what temperatures you reach? I saw that you mentioned your space being ~9m in length. I’m currently using a 60kW diesel heater which does *not* separate the exhaust fumes from the hot air.. Heats up the space to 25c+ in a minute though haha. Thanks!

It has been perfect, Im so glad I fitted the intake filter on the non combustible air, the amount of crap with welding. grinding etc is amazing. All setting are on standard still, it is set at 23 deg c (remember my thermostat is in the roof space, ground level is 19 deg c). It uses an OKish amount of fuel on full chat, brilliant on low. I never do any of that turning up before shutting off stuff. Never done it with my eberspacher d2 in my campervan of 5 years so why should this be any different. It has caused zero trouble and I have done nothing with it other than both filters, one cleaned and combustible air one renewed. So lets say each week night after work 1hr flat out 2hrs slow and weekend (if allowed to playout in the workshop) 1.5hrs flat out (colder in the morning) and 6hrs low. It will use 7 liters. Its been perfect, sometimes abused for drying paintwork, cleaned filters, never took apart, no fuel additives or internal cleaning in any way and still works a treat. I have never ran it on any other fuel other than main stream branded forecourt car diesel. Im not interested in red, kerosene or mixing of any kind.

I guess if you bought 2 or 3 of the 8kw ones on ebay. (I just bought one for $136USD.) You could try that. Much cheaper to run them than the 60kw and healthier to breath. In my garage i use a 5 kw heater and I bought some 1 inch foam board and made a simple wall with tape 30 foot long to make a smaller 30x10 foot room to heat. It works good that way. I keep my heater outside of my garage hanging from a rope in my carport it's recirculating air through a window vent. That way I can grab the heater and take it ice fishing to heat my ice tent.

As there is no extended pipe pickup into the body of the filter I assumed the filter body would have to completely fill up before the pump could grab any fuel. The way I have mounted it was so that from the moment fuel starts to flow into the filter through the mesh it is available to the pump. Well that's was my thoughts on positioning. I suppose I will find out when I firdt run it. ha ha

doesnt matter , the battery can go to 0V if left without supervision (heater shuts off instantly at about 6-7V anyway) , 6-7V for a car (starter) battery is "deadly" i.e. irreversible damage can occur on the plates. 10.5V is 0% on starter battery. Auto disconnecting the battery under 12V would do the same as instant power outtage.... best thing to install some kind of a low-battery alarm to shut the heater in time off manually. Shame these heaters are kinda dumb in this regard. A simple dip under 12V (on-battery) would initiate a shutdown sequence in the IC and problem solved. Safe operation on batteries. Nobody thought of this ? Pro-tip for them. WIth AC/DC power supplys .... there are AC/DC power supplies with external 12V batt backup. TRACO and MeanWell are making those. Not sure how those works though.

Hi, as said in the video its not ideal, it should be outside away from the exhaust outlet. But that said put it in perspective you are installing it in garage not a sleeping compartment and for fumes to back feed would require restriction in the exhaust, would we not have a flame out if it back fed? Do what you feel is right and follow the installation instructions, go to eberspacher or webasto and see what they recommend the Chinese instructions are not that good.

It's OK indoors in a large shed or small garage. Just leave the silencer off and get a screen for it. Put aluminium screen over the exhaust too. keeps bugs out.

You wont be out of pocket and in the end you will have what was ordered, good and fast when it goes well, would not buy from again due to customer services.
