I have one just like this for my little cargo trailer. I use one of those wheel steps you talk about and run aluminum 3" dryer vent hose to a vent in my trailer floor. I block it with a pipe test fitting when not in use. I also have a storage tub that is fitted over the unit when it rains or snows.

I love the idea of a moveable cabinet, nice one, like n sub.

I would use the old base from an office chair for a stand. Thanks for the information. I want to get one and burn 50/50 oil-diesel mix as well. ~Peace!

You can get a 120 V to 12 V converter so that way you don’t have to run a battery you can just plug it in the wall and the biggest problem with any of those style heaters is the volume of heat they put out is an a timer for a large area so you might have to get something to help get the temperature up and then that will maintain it as long as you’re very well insulated

Just my two cents here; keep the entire exhaust in a downward way. Any form of burning / oxidation will produce water, and you don't want water to block the exhaust..

One on my pickup has a low spot. I drilled a small hole at the low spot and haven't had any problems with condensation freezing in there

Hey man. I am looking for a way to heat my 14x40 ft insulated wood building. Temperatures get down into the low 20s Fahrenheit in the winter at night. Do you think one of these would work?

I'm installing mine tomorrow. I ordered an extra 3M of exhaust pipe and I'm going to take more heat out of the exhaust.

If you don't have a ceiling fan in there, Storm, you need one. Circulates and pushes the heat down from up there.

its a straight thru hull exhaust skin fitting . 46 bucks on amazon

Not sure if it shuts off the blower fan or stops air flow when it runs out of fuel. If it doesn't and your fresh air inlet is outside that could turn into a cold night.

That’s so true lol . From my test which I haven’t posted it does shut the unit down . It amazingly enough has a bunch of safety features built in which I am testing. I truly want to know how far can I trust this unit . I won’t completely but I want to know I can go in house for a couple hours and not completely set my house on fire. But interesting point you bring up I will mention that in my video about safety features.

How high are your ceilings?

Do they make one of these with 80000 BTU and an exhaust pipe ?

Looking to do this. Right now I use a humongous diesel salamander. It kicks off and on as needed. I use about 7 gallons of diesel fuel per week to keep an uninsulated 20 x 20 garage 65 to 70. That’s with it getting cold outside. Do you think something this small would keep up with that?

You’d be burning same amount but way quieter. You’d have to run full out

Have you though of routing the burner intake air pipe outside? Now it will build low pressure in your garage and draw cold outside air to replace the low pressure.

Yes that worried me in the beginning so I kept an eye on that . But I have a good friend whom is a HVAC tech and I asked if he had a way to measure that and well he laughed at me , said this isn’t your house , garage have enough air leaks that you’ll never have to worry about that. The garage door has slight leaks and well the port I use to exhaust around its rim has slight leak. There isn’t a pressure drop or negative pressure that can be felt after many hours . I’m always in the shop when I run it so I do go out and in with door open often and you never get that air rush . But in a future video you’ll see me mention that I will be putting a permanent vent and I will draw an intake. Thanks

@@Storman77 Thanks for replying. Yes certainly there are air leaks. Was just thinking that it most likely gives better overall energy efficiency by having the intake from outdoors. I was also thinking if somehow could have two wall pipe welded for say ~30cm of length so that inner pipe would be the exhaust and outer pipe intake. Both routed outside. This would give two advantages: Intake pipe air gap would work as an insulator for example when routing through wall and second it would pre-heat the intake air to improve efficiency. Bit hard to try to explain, hope it makes sense. Or could route the exhaust gasses through radiator, maybe that would have the highest efficiency.

@@Ccorniit you already reading my mind lol . I had a wood pellet stove did exhaust exactly that way the exhaust in the intake we’re in the same hole they pre-warming the air coming in.

By all the videos on here it looks like if you filter your fuel, the heater will run longer without having it to be cleaned so often. Best thing to do is to replace the cheap green fuel line with some better quality line and install a filter between the tank and pump and you'll be good to go.

Was thinking..a wood base may hide some of noise verse a metal base...just a thought?

That might work for sure !

Be careful of that exposed exhausr as it can reach temps in excess of 240 C.

How long can you run that until you pass out form the gases?

Well if you exhaust in your camper and house I don’t know really. I exhaust outside and have a Carbon monoxide detector on all the time and it never has alarmed . It has a separate intake and exhaust port then heating intake port and exhaust port.

Is your garage insulated at all? My garage is about 440 SQ FT. I'm in the process of insulating it.

I just bought one of these and the tank leaks fuel and the heating element blinks red and is faulty. Vevor is fighting me on refund. So far customer service has not been good at all.

How long does a full tank run? And how much is the capacity? Liters or gallons

I haven’t done a proper test but thank is 5 litres and for me runs about 6 hours at various temperatures. I will be doing proper test soon.

You should run your fresh air intake outside becouse your useing air from inside the garage which if its air tight may be a problem.

@@bojankljajic5408 oh your are very fine . They are originally design for transport air heater . I will link it for you the kit . Now for batteries I bet you can run 24 hrs before any problems. They drain 10 amps at start up for 5 min then they run at under 2 amps depending how high fans are running. Generally a person will use a battery maintainer on the battery.

Haw about just two pieces of angle, 4 casters. Just widen it's stance.

You might find a kerosene space heater is better suited to this purpose? I use one connected to a thermostat, and it burns heating oil (which in the UK is cheaper than diesel), and it heats a relatively large space quite quickly, then switches off. Only downside is the bigger ones are quite noisy. They are industrial machines though, far more durable than the Chinese van heaters, and using heating oil and a thermostat, are very cheap to run.

I could agree, but - two draw backs I can think of off the top of my head are these: 1. Kerosene produces moist heat 2. Kerosene heaters in the US are not vented to the outside and therefore require active ventilation while using. I mention these two specifically because these diesel heaters are often being used in small spaces with limited ventilation. I do agree that a kerosene heater would likely suit his needs, however some more drawbacks are smell, increased fuel consumption compared to diesel, and shop debris infiltrating the heater since they are usually exposed heating elements in the US. Also, kerosene heaters still technically require maintenance (even if nobody does maintain their units), but it's far less work than a diesel. Diesel makes you work for the efficiency and dry heat. They're great for off-grid situations where general maintenance and upkeep of the living space, and it's appliances, is expected.

@@NAldrighetti Have you tried kerosene (or heating oil), in direct comparison to diesel? My space heater runs on either, and other than kerosene being far cheaper, there is no real difference between the 2 fuels. I would think there is no reason at all, not to run one of the Chinese diesel heaters on heating oil, in exactly the same way as an industrial space heater, as they operate in exactly the same way?

Chris you are correct about kerosene working just as well. There are different fuels in North America vs the very refined diesel you use. Kerosene here is more refined here and cost slightly more than Diesel still . Also we can’t get at the pump so I will be dealing with 10 litres pails vs refillable cans. I should have mentioned in video the primary use of heater is for utility camper trailer and this heater I think is a good fit . I decided to make use of it in work shop.

@@Storman77 What fuel do you use in oil fired central heating boilers? Here we have specific heating oil, which is much cheaper than diesel, and is something many taxi drivers have been using to power their diesel cars, over decades.

@@chrisstevens8431 yes it’s called furnace oil which is just a red dye diesel . They dye it so Taxi drivers don’t use it lol 😂. I am messing around but they dye it because it’s tax free fuel . We can use off road and it’s used for furnace oil . That would certainly work. They deliver it I large quantity but you can also get it at the fuel dealer if you have proper cans for it . I may try it

Get away from the battery I use a jackery and solar panel I have many ideas but I would get one with out the case mount it out of the way any you can mount the fuel outside I have pictures of what I have done in my 8x8 shed

Take the black outlet tube off no need for it

I’d aim it down to warm concrete floor.A Y would give you 2 hoses to warm more area also.If aimed at a big can of oil the oil would keep producing heat for awhile also.Like putting a hot rock in a sleeping bag will produce heat for awhile 😆

I just read 10-20% into diesel to keep it from freezing.Around here diesel is 5 bucks gallon.K is like 8-9 bucks.

@@Storman77 I saw a video where a guy said straight Kerosene will not properly lubricate the dosing pump in closet to wear out quickly but I'm still a newbie don't know anything yet just waiting for my unit to arrive tomorrow

I accidentally just bought the 5kw version because they both look identical. I was not aware that there was more than one option. What's the difference? More heat? Should I be concerned that I got the 5kw instead of the 8kw?
