THIS is good foreign policy. It's embarrassing that the country I'm from, the US, spends greater than 50% on its military. The Chinese "One Belt, One Road" policy improves the lives of people far more efficiently aircraft carriers and tanks ever can in battle. It's a shame that some influential US politicians have gotten their pockets lined by perpetuating wars. Don't even get me started on the War on Drugs and the private prison industry. I wholeheartedly agree with Larry Bran's top comment: China brings business. The US brings war. We suck right now, but maybe someday we can work with the Chinese on infrastructure projects, such as a new liquid fluoride thorium reactor in Rio de Janeiro. One can dream, right? And allocate some of that excessive military budget to NASA, please.

Where were Bono and Bob Geldof? Voices of Africa my eye. Africa looks after itself very well and prospers on its own. The Chinese know what destructive outsiders do from the Opium Wars but they contribute to African prosperity. The Ethiopians are a wise hardworking people and deserve to prosper as they will.

No, the debt is not manageable. Last time the west had to write off the debt. Woyane started with clean slate just a decade ago. Today the country is saddled with debt agaion. What is different this time around is woyane has borrowed not just from governments, but also private banks.

While our leader auditions for the funny farm, the Chinese government is out building railroads to connect its far flung empire of trade. We sit around and bicker, fight and tear apart our country over stupid things and social beliefs having no place in national political forums except as side issues and not issues which tie up the entire government of the US in a never-ending clash of wills. Instead, our Government needs to focus on working to build, build and build. And not just real estate deals and other shady money making schemes aided along by massive tax breaks. We do nothing to encourage trade in developing nations then wonder why all of their people want to immigrate in various ways to the US. What this rail project shows is something Americans used to be good at when we all worked together for the common good: long range planning and infrastructure development. However, we continue to act as if we have the luxury of time and money to waste resources fighting over things that mean nothing. Settle those matters and move. Compromise, each side gives in some, and then take the best possible course of action. Avoid extremism, from each side (the Dems have done their, its leaders are all now so conservative they qualify as moderate Republicans and is why they can't win anything but wide range elections like the Senate and President with any degree of regularity). As long as we are distracted from what makes this country strong and viable with the sleight of hand tricks the major Party leaders and the people who own them let us debate we'll continue to lose ground. The way to win in business is to compete. We're not doing that and it won't change until the bickering is ended and we move forward together. That's the America that was Great. Not what is going on now, which is America at its Worst.
