China Says It Used J20 "Mighty Dragon" For "Punishment" Drills; Prepping For US F-16 Viper Showdown?
China’s military has published footage of J-20 stealth fighter jets highlighting the “cross-strait” lethality of the aircraft. The video was published by PLA’s Eastern Theatre Command, which carried out aggressive “punishment” drills around self-ruled Taiwan. The 55-second video, which appears to be a compilation of different footage, is captioned “cross-strait lethality” in English. The video emphasises the three Ss of the J-20 “Mighty Dragon”: Stealth, Supercruise, and Situational awareness.
The video says that “The J-20 has come a long way with its High stealth, Supersonic cruise, and High situational awareness.” The video was published right after the unprecedented military drills launched by the PLA as “punishment” for Taiwan’s “separatist acts.”

No way F16 can fight J-20. J-20 is stealth jet fighter equipped with much better radar than f16. J20 is also equipped with longest air-air missile PL 17 which can shoot down airplane 450 kms away.

J20 may be stealthy against radar detection but it still has infrared signature. Taiwan's F16V has AN/AAQ-33 Sniper Advanced Targeting Pod, which can detect and lock J20.

The J-20 has a Radar Cross Section (RCS) equivalent to an old US F-18 in a "clean" configuration. Our old 1970's F-117 is more stealthy than the J-20.

These exercises, codenamed "Joint Sword-2024A," were described by Chinese officials as a "strong punishment" for the "separatist acts" of Taiwan's independence movement and a stern warning against external interference. The drills, which encompassed air, sea, and land operations, aimed to demonstrate the People's Liberation Army's (PLA) readiness and combat capabilities, particularly in multidomain coordination The timing of these exercises coincided with the inauguration of Taiwan's President Lai Ching-te, who has been vocal about defending Taiwan's sovereignty and democratic values. In response, Taiwan's Ministry of National Defense placed its forces on high alert, condemning the drills as provocative actions that threaten regional peace and stability.
Bad news for the J-20: “US Upgrades 139 Taiwanese F-16s to Latest Configuration”. Taiwan also started receiving new Block V F-16s in 2018. “The $4.5 billion phase 1 upgrades include “AN/APG-83 AESA radar, the Sniper targeting pod, Link 16, a helmet-mounted cueing system, precision GPS navigation…an upgraded modular mission computer, an ethernet high speed data network, a new center cockpit pedestal display, and heavyweight landing gear,” according to Air and Space Forces Magazine.”
