China's Off-Road SUV Threatens Land Rover Defender

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

China has asserted dominance across various industries globally, and this time, their focus intensifies on the automobile sector with the introduction of their latest Off-road SUV. This vehicle competes directly with renowned models such as the legendary Land Rover Defender, GMW Tank 300, and various light and heavy off-road vehicles. Aptly named the "Jetour Traveler," the vehicle aligns with its name, suggesting a robust capability for covering extensive distances.
The significance of this move lies in China's strategic entry into the competitive landscape of off-road vehicles, traditionally dominated by established names. By presenting the Jetour Traveler, China positions itself as a formidable contender, challenging the likes of the Land Rover Defender and GMW Tank 300.
The Jetour Traveler caters to drivers seeking light and normal off-road journeys, boasting a rugged yet attractive design that competes with high-end vehicles costing thousands of dollars.

I live in Australia and we have several Chinese brands of Chinese cars available. Recently, our family needed a small SUV and I researced everything including all the cheaper Chinese vehicles, Korean , Indian,Europen, USA etc ,etc. For value and quality I found the Japanese built Mitsubishi ASX/RVR was not much more in price than the lesser powerful Chinese and came with 10 year warranty, 10 year fixed priced servicing and 10 year Roadside assist. Could be more happier and its made in Japan.

These Chinese cars are poor imitations of the real defender despite copying design cues. They need to lead tech changes before winning electri car credibility. Cheaper but not as good as the wrong way to future credibility. On each wheel hi torque electric motor perhaps using brake discs asrotore, expensive but big lead in energy rev Covery

I’m a 68 yr LR driver owner of over 40 years .Currently drive an 03 Defender TD5 County 130 hi-cap . I have no plans to change to anything else as it’s the most practical vehicle ive ever owned ..yes it’s a posh tractor with 5 seats but by comparison it’s very cheap to run ..fuel aside ( nearly 30mpg) its Costs £650 a year in tax/mot and insurance + service maintenance and it’s an ongoing investment with offers well over double what I paid for.. and you don’t very many Japanese offerings of that age on the road ..Currant LR products are nice to look at but not own ..way to expensive and lose money quicker than throwing a case full of money off a cliff..and not very reliable without a technician from Starship Enterprise

The over air updates great for spying on you and anything connected to vehicle or home wifi. No technical weight spec, fuel range, towing, GVM etc. Looks great but may have no actual 4WD capacity for family. Might be soccer mum car. Some of these Chinese 4WD in market have no GVM for family + luggage and are limited to towing garden trailer. These don’t work for family on holiday if you taking a camper off-road. This is no we’re near the new Toyota Prado for capability even the current model has great capability. Electronics doesn’t assist in reliability off-road example defender reliability.

Beating, really? I would like to see such a vehicle in real terrain on rock, mud etc. to see if this statement is true 😉 Marketing videos can tell a lot of stories ...

It's still made in china. I personally try my best not to buy anything that's made in china(especailly if its originally chinese companies not oem) if it's related to safety and health of myself and my loved ones.

Chinese manufacturers do not consider utility, longevity, or customer retention when designing products. The reason their products are cheaper is because they use inferior components and build them in unregulated, polluting factories with no regard for worker safety or environmental protections. That's why 30-year-old Land Cruisers sell for $20-30K while this "Tank" will be lucky to retain 5% of its resale value after five years- assuming it still runs. Buy cheap, buy thrice.

I am really wondering how Chinese cars will perform in a longer run say after 10 years and over hundred thousand miles on the clock? Probably they will be scrapped by that time if they have durability of typical Chinese products specially electronics… it takes years of engineering legacy to make a durable solid cars. Just mimicking others design is not the name of the game in a car industry

I’d feel the same about Land Rover with Ingenium engines which have only been being manufactured for a few years and do you think Land Rovers are not full of Chinese electronics. Their wiring harnesses are made in Russia allegedly

@@davidgrahambrown3793ok. Then I’m wondering why it has taken over 6 months for a part wiring harness for a Discovery 5 , which is under warranty, to arrive at Marshall’s in the Midlands, uk, rendering the vehicle undriveable. Doesn’t add up to me!
