It's because average to below income people don't matter to them. Just so long that the top 1% stay on top and continue to get richer, that's all that really matters to them. Also, in a capitalist society, there can be no rich without the working poor. It's just how things work with that kind of system unfortunately.

I went on the Shanghai metro in 2018, and I was astounded. The network was so vast and deep down, you could take journeys of escalators going down or up, especially in an interchange station. Thousands would be on their phones because wifi was already widespread underground. Everything was so seemless and in order, and was very cheap. I’ve travelled on the Shanghai maglev and China’s high speed rail system. It is world class! It’s great to see your authentic shots of China Subway VS America Subway in your videos.I am so impressed by this. I only wish we have such modern and convenience transport system in the US. It is so dirty and dated in the US. China is allot more modern and developed than I expected! Our media in the West always tells us China is collapsing.

US has a car culture, public transportation within a metropolitan area by rail & buses is not prioritized leading to under-investment to the point of neglect. Hence most of the subway systems is in the state they're in right now. Been to NYC once in the 90s, never again, rats as big as my cat!!! Shocking!! It's like walking into a giant toilet, the smell of ammonia was so strong, there were homeless people sleeping in the corner of some of the sub stations and it was in broad daylight too. Lots of people jumping over the turnstiles to avoid paying. I though the wild wild west was in the past but it still is. Almost like a life and death adventure, that you wouldn't want to experience. We can actually go fishing because our natural lakes havnt been fished into extinction! Our air isn’t so polluted we can’t see the building across the road ! No doors on public toilets in China let alone toilet paper ! Old people spitting everywhere ! If this ever has a kid their grandparents will refer to them as wai guo ren 😂😂😂! Most of us Americans live in 3+ bedroo 2+ bath houses with big gardens and big bbqs ! Most Chinese people live in crappy little apartments that look like they are gonna fall apart after 5 years! There is a reason why 90 percent of Chinese would leave China for America or the west if they had the chance 😂😂😂 I could go on all day lol … congratulations on you flashy subways though!!

This is one view - One must bear in mind that China's beautiful subways are very new while most of US's system is very old. The US can't upgrade their aging system due to many reasons, the primary one is money. Most of its budget is spent on warfare than its ordinary citizens. Of course they can issue bonds or print more dollars but that'll just add up to the trillions of $$ debt .... well, you can figure it

The US Metros and trains may be ageing but is there any excuse for not keeping it all clean and spotless? Do elderly people stop taking baths and deodorants simply because they are getting old? One should stop making excuses for bad social behavior and bad attitudes towards one's own public property and have some pride enough to maintain them instead of having graffiti and foul language defaced across public walls and trains with slashed seats and smashed windows. These have nothing to do with whether something is new or old.
