What most people dont understand is Soviet Union aircraft carriers had a completely different purpose to aircraft carriers of the US. Soviet/Russian carriers are built to serve the task of fleet defence where as for the US they are strike platforms. In the end i dont think China will compete with the US in carriers either as in modern times they are an extremely vulnerable asset. They are an asset to be used against a weak enemy but against peers they will be sunk or disabled.

I can speak confidently about german industry, this will only get worse around here. I remember how impressed i was with most chinese at university compared to my german fellows. now, 2 decades later, it has come out exactly as it looked like back then. i was sure they will smoke the west very soon. and they did. i am so impressed by this! even more so, since, at the very same time, germans did everything possible to trash what the chinese came for to study. it is truly something what happened here, and in china! :)

Actually, it is more significant symbolically to sail 1 day before May 1 which is worldwide Labor Day, which is also usually the golden week for China. In today's world, there are 190 countries, and China is the largest trading partner for 130 of them. China is the second or third largest trading partner for another 60 countries. This implies that China has a responsibility to possess the most powerful naval fleet on Earth, used to defend China and the majority of countries in the world from attacks by Anglo-Saxon pirate gangs. For example, China is India's largest trading partner. I believe Indians wouldn't want a situation where tomorrow, the United States suddenly demands that India stop importing goods from China, threatening to bomb India otherwise. If China has the strongest fleet, then we can defend the trade security of both China and India.

I have never seen such an objective and profound blogger on KZread about the PLA. As a Chinese and a military enthusiast, I must admit that he gets some news very quickly and accurately than most of Chiense. Chinese people may have heard of some star weapons such as J20 and CV Fujian, but 99% of people don't care about their specific performance and parameters. To be honest, the government is not too keen on promoting these weapons and is very cautious about their information. As military enthusiasts, we often complain about this. Because of the blogger's Taiwanese background, he can read and understand Chinese media, military forums, and even the procurement information network of the military industry department to obtain the latest information. So his channel is indeed unique. Even on Chinese social media, there are few such detailed introductions (because if you say too much and cause some secrets leaks, you may be taken away by the police) Very interesting channel keep moving!

It would take only 2 years or less if there is not much modifications of the design. It depends upon the problems arising from Fujian aircraft carrier and who quickly they are resolved.

Regarding schedule fitting with Fujian’s schedule, when are the various types of carrier aircraft going to be ready in adequate quantity? And what & when are the planned upgrades to these carrier aircraft? What aircraft(and what upgrade generation) will be ready when the Fujian goes operational? Haven’t heard much about refueling aircraft.

the Fujian will be a one-off ship. So there aren't any further ships of this class planned. That's why many believe it will mainly serve testing purposes for future carriers and later training for aircrews. Remember it's their first catapult equipped ship and their first "real" carrier. There is already a follow up class planned that will be nuclear powered and larger and will consist of at least 4 ships. Current ready planes are J-15 (Su-27 license). The J-35 will have a carrier version in the future.

Pretty sure there has to be another carrier under construction. Maybe it's some modular design where they are building parts of it under roof or inside building, then later when modules are built they will join them together. maybe they are doing it like this to keep adversaries and enemies guessing, so they cannot plan or counter it for as long as possible.

Several possible next ship options 1… 076 amphibious carriers. After China gets some experience with the fujian carrier, then build more in Ernest. 2… keep the fujian production going at this shipyard for continuity savings 3… major upgrades to the follow on carrier including drone swarm defense, nuclear powered, Lessons learned just like happened with the 2nd carrier, EMALS replacement if necessary. 4… Ukraine lesson may be large carriers are hopelessly vulnerable so switch shipbuilding to submarines

This Yangtze River delta area is where the world's first-concerted aerial-attack against a carrier strike force took place in 1937; Chinese Air Force A-17s, A-12 Shrikes, Northrup Gammas were SUPPOSEDLY escorted by Boeing P-26 Model 281 Peashooters of the 5th Pursuit Group from rendevous-point up-river BUT... the commander of the 1st Attack-Bomber group (name unavailable) disregarded orders to wait for the P-26/281 escort fighters (under command of Lt. John Wong Pan-Yang / deputy commander Huang Xinrui) and proceeded to attack the Imperial Japanese Navy's carrier strike force of IJN _Kaga, Ryujo and Hosho_ sadly only to be decimated by defending IJN combat air patrol of A2N & A4N fighter planes....the Chinese Air Force would make some more attempts at bombing the IJN aircraft carrier strike groups in outside the Yangtze delta, and came very close to hitting Kaga and Ryujo! But close is not success. BTW I remember reading about this many years ago, which could've been from memoirs of Gen. Claire Lee Chennault, but not sure; what I do remember clearly is that the commander of the 1st Attack-Bomber Group who disobeyed orders to wait for the 5th Pursuit Group's P-26/281 escort fighters was personally reprimanded by Generalissimo Chiang Kai-Shek and EXECUTED by firing-squad for his grave mistake in executing military order. If anyone here have more information on this, please let it be known! These are important lessons in history of military/combat aviation. AND, BTW... the *_Battle of Chongqing_* (aka Bombing of Chungking 1938-41) was a very consequential battle that directly-lead to the *attack on Pearl Harbor* - which would never had happened had the U.S. sincerely helped China beat-back the Imperial Japanese after the _Rape of Nanking_ and stopped providing material support to the Empire of Japan; indeed it was like a _proxy war_ btwn China-USSR vs Japan-USSA at the *Battle of Chongqing* until the USA finally "switch-sides" in mid-1941 w/the Oil+Steel Embargo against the Empire of Japan... 4 years too late. This is why China CANNOT rely on outside "help" for national safety and self-determination.

@camt8804 - the Chinese Air Force/and the warlord air forces they integrated were flying a mixed-bag of combat aircraft by 1937 before being abandoned by the USA, but then received great relief from the Russians under the Sino-Soviet Treaty around the time of the Rape Of Nanjing; before that the Chinese pilots flew American Curtiss Hawk II/IIIs, Boeing P-26/281s, JAPANESE Aichi AB-3s, Nakajima Ko4s, Italian Fiat CR.30/32s, German Heinkels/Junkers, British Gloster Gladiators... TOO MANY TO LIST, before transferring almost completely into the Soviet Polikarpov I-15, I-16, I-153 fighters and Tupolev bombers by the end of 1938... only when the Americans got their a$$€s handed back to them from the Pearl Harbor attack/Pacific War, did the U.S. in provide earnest support to the Chinese... well, actually, after the Japanese invaded their French colonialist friends in Indochina... which of course Chiang Kai-shek was delighted with as it helps him distance-away from Second United Front with the Chinese PLA and Soviets... w/already brewing anti-Soviet sentiment w/Team USA...
