China's Fatal Weapon Abroad

I have been living in Hong Kong since 97. Things that have been destroying the country is the amount of smuggling, counterfeit goods, illegal tree harvesting, buying up all the flats they can, chopping them up into one room flats to rent at very high prices, etc The 50 years of autonomy basically lasted about 10 minutes after the British left. Got to love China.

As someone who lives in an Rural /Coastal Tourist area, heavily frequented by middle class Chinese tourists... The Chinese passbook means one thing. They are gonna ignore all road safety signs and cause at least 10 - 20 serious traffic incidents with locals per season. Cows can nearly tank a rental car too....and expensive when you hit one at a stock crossing...

What do you carry? 1) Some water and snacks 2) Local currency 3) Maybe a translation dictionary and maps if you can't rely on cell service 4) And the No.1 essential a full size flag from your country of origin. Honestly I could see like a national lampoon character where they do the American version of this, but he keeps getting robbed at the end anyways but never learns and tries again
