CHINA PART 3: TERRACOTTA ARMY

After a lovely breakfast, the boys and I headed over to see some clay warriors and we learned about this army. I honestly think I was more impressed by the presentation than the actual artifacts during this tour. Again, Thanks for watching and as always, have a blessed day!

dont see other vloggers ever visit the other pits esp the last one . Didnt even know the last one was ready for display . Thanks for showing it to us. It has been over 5 decades long ardous garguatum task n patience for the chinese to meticulously retrieve n assemble n restore pit by pit and pieces by pieces the nearly 10000 warriors all broken except one. More fun facts: The terracotta warriors were broken by rebels after the lst dynasty , the Qin dynasty fell not long after the death of its founder n lst emperor of China , Qin Shihuangdi . His dynasty didnt outlast him for long like the other chinese dynasties did. Only one terracotta warrior was not broken n the chinese proudly showcase him in the 2nd museum. He is the one bending down on one knee in a posture that looks like he was shooting arrow. These pits of terracotta army were part of the entire burial grounds of Qin emperor., the cenetrepiece of which was his mountain size pyramid mausoleum. Just like his terracotta army, his mausoleum was also covered by nature forces of earth sendiments thru 2 milleniums long passage of time. His mausoleum outsize the egyptian pharoahs pyramids. It has not been dug opened yet since the discovery of the mausoleum site as the chinese govt decided not to do so until a technology solution breakthro that will enable them to determine whats inside the mausoleum so that they can proceed to dug open the mausoleum w/o unknowlingly spoiling the interior design n many expected adornments it contains. . This duty of care exercised to protect the mausoleum integrity was warranted as a famous chinese ancient historian described that mausolem was designed n built to resemble heaven on earth like having a river of mercury n heavenly constellation above on the ceiling . Also the lessons learnt from their opening of the terracotta pits that certain elements like color paints buried n covered for so long a time would vanished off once you exposed them to the air. So really the chinese authorities was right to bide their time in digging up the mausoleum . No vloggers has gone to visit mausoleum site . Even tho the mausoleum is not dug opened, it would still be exciting chance of a lifetime to just visit the site where the lst emperor of China was buried , just walk around and climb up the mausoleum . This emperor is after all no ordinary emperor but a historical legend for his many lst of kind accomplanishments eg created an united China, built the great wall , introduced a std currency , weight , meritocracy n legal governance system etc that continued to be adopted by succeeding dynasties down the centuries and whose ideas also spread to all lengths n breadth of the eurasia continent and copied and adapted outside of China as well.

I once did a quick stint in Xi'an for work and missed out on seeing the Terracotta Warriors. I'm slated to be a groomsman for a friend this august, whose family's been rooted in Xian for ages. I thought it'd be neat to check out the Warriors together, so I ask him what they're like. With a smirk, he tells me their faces look just like me-why bother with statues when you can check out the real show? He suggests we hit the bars and party till the wedding kicks off😂

Some people have told me that the Terracotta Army site is crazy busy during the summer. We got through the entrance gates in 30 seconds in late November, and they said during the summer, it could take up to 3 hours just to get through the gates. If you really, really like history, it’s worth it. But if you’re not set on it and the only one that wants to see them, maybe I would suggest going back during the fall and not spending half the day in lines. Hope the wedding goes well!

Actually yuan and yen share the same currency symbol ¥, even many native people can’t tell. I think CNY¥ and JPY¥ is like USD$ and AUD$. The pronunciations of yuan and yen are similar. The characters 圆(yuan) and 円(yen) derive from the same Chinese traditional character 圓, I guess😄

Thank you for your insight Benny! It was really hard for me to get them straight so I had my friends help me out. Even after being there, I still get it wrong…world currency is not my forte. I appreciate the increase in knowledge!
