Mark goes really in depth about this in his “Talk Toomey” podcast. I really recommend it dude, he talks about the whole Pass Out of Existence album track by track.

That's an awesome story about M5! Plus it ended up coming full circle when Mythbusters decided to use "The Impossibility Of Reason" on repeat in their "Do plants grow better when talked to?" experiment! I remember watching that episode and being like _holy shit that's Pure Hatred!_

There's still just something really special about this album! Man! The riffs yall were writing in that tuning was so creative and (to me) unmatched still to this day!

I remember jamming super hard in my living room when this video came out. Still one of your heaviest songs. Personally Pass out of existence is one of my favorite albums. Maybe you should do a play through?

This was the first chimaira song i heard, and it was on the road runner road rage dvd. After that, i immediately went to my local hmv and purchased the album... good times.

Im so glad your channel came across my for you page. Chimaira was onr of my biggest influences growing up. I still remember the first song I heard. Was Implements of Destrction sitting in my friends basment.

I love the guitar tone on the recording. When it goes from dissonant chords down to the 1p0 riff. It really growls

I'd do this for every song in my catalog. Start with the 1st album & just go down the lists, one a month. Like, job security so to speak. And yes! I have the same mental issues with the 6 & 7 string change. I'm only a year in so my bigger issue is my right hand going to the wrong string. I've realize I need a day to transition to the 7

A bit of a long one but maybe six, a play through of that would be sick!

Those bends are such an iconic Chimaira sound! If I could recommend any other play throughs or lessons from Pass it would have to be Rizzo. Those descending riffs into that main riff with little high pitched back and forth part is just so sick and the background of the mix has this cool Fear Factory synthy sound...I wonder what that effect is?

I believe that sound you're describing is guitar! I think Steph did an overdub, which was then treated with FX to make it sound more atmospheric.

Awesome Liam! Happy to hear you guys are covering Split! You don't need permission from anyone to do so. However, if you try and upload to a streaming service for distribution, you'll be prompted to acquire a license. All streaming aggregates like Distrokid, Cd Baby, etc, offer services for that. So you'll just have to do a little research (if this is the route you plan to take), and they'll guide you through it! The license does cost money, but I have no idea how much. 🤘

Mark was always really tuned in with the record labels, and so he, our management, and the label, would usually lead the charge on those types of decisions.

I was watching the DVD of the Resurrection album, I know you had problems with some publishers, I don't know if you already have a video about it or if it could be an option, but how difficult it was and how was the journey until you left band?

It's interesting that Chimaira (and your particular style) is all about 0-1-3-4-6 positioning instead of overused 0-5-7-8-10 "classic modern metal of 2000s aka metalcore/groove metal" riffs.

It's just a different scale bro, 0 13467 is phrygian, 578 is natural minor. Don't be afraid to use both at the right time

Am I the only one that thought "Sp" and "Lit" were two different words? Didn't event occur to me that it just spelled split. Feel a little dumb just thinking about that, and now my gen Z brain only thinks about how "lit" sp is.
