The Army has had Prussian traditions since 1885 with the arrival of Emilio Körner in the same way that the Navy has had British tradition since 1818 with the arrival of Sir Thomas Cochrane.

Once the War of the Pacific ended, a process of self-criticism began within the Chilean Army, especially related to the indiscipline of the troops, the lack of professionalism of the officers and the general improvisation with which the conflict had been approached. This self-criticism and the desire to modernize and professionalize the Army was supported by President Domingo Santa María. He then opted for the Prussian military model, winner of the French Napoleonic tradition in the Franco-Prussian war of 1870, and which had become the new paradigm of Western armies. The reform began in 1885 with the hiring of the Prussian officer Emilio Körner, who would carry out the process, and contemplated the transfer of Chilean officers to Europe to study the model of the Prussian army, the incorporation of German officers into different army units to improve instruction and as teachers at the Military School. Similarly, military training institutions such as the NCO School and the War Academy were created, all of which began to signal the formation of a new national army at the end of the 19th century. "Never Defeated Winning Army"!

I was going to clarify by starting my own thread but it was much better explained here. I would just add that the command & conquer red alert instrumental track was used while its not what was being played irl. That is a prussian march and adopted by Chile BEFORE N*** Germany. And N*** Germany adopted and followed the prussian tradition. Uniforms, marching, styling etc. It is a very elegant military march, regretably tainted by those that did not start it. Prussia helped train Chile and provided uniforms and weaponry. The respect and tradition is for Prussia not the N****.

The weird looking plane is a converted 707 to AWACS role. More recently Chile got two Sentries from the UK for that very purpose.

This looks like that because it is german Influenced. It peaked in the decades before WWI (19th century and early 20th) Chile had many ties with the Prussians they bought material from their industry and instruction from their army . Institutions like the Chilean Army and Instituto Pedagógico were heavily influenced by the Prussians (Germans).

Hasta el año 1988 chile tenía un estilo francés, después de la guerra del pacífico tomó el estilo prusiano y contrató a oficiales alemanes, desde esa fecha hasta el día de hoy, más de 120 años, este ha sido el mismo, las música (marchas), la forma, las órdenes, el uniforme y toda la doctrina que implica.

Thanks for reacting to my country's military parade! Just so you know, the people in full dark green, brown, and white with dark green are the police (these women for example 4:20 ), we have the "Carabineros de chile", which is an militarized police force, they actually take part of the military parade, we have lots of respect for them, they have suffered a lot the last years, with a lot of criminals and even terrorists, but those are in the south only.

Ese video es una compilación de varios desfiles, o varios periodos (paradas militares en Chile), por lo que recomiendo aun que sea un poco más extenso ver alguna parada militar de algún año en especifico. El uniforme "Aleman Gris" es por la herencia prusiana del Ejercito Chileno luego de la Guerra del Pacifico, hoy ese traje vendría siendo utilizado 1) por los cadetes de la escuela de sub oficiales y tambien de gala de sub oficiales y oficiales, no así como uniforme de combate. Bueno eso saludos.

That video is a compilation of various parades, or various periods (military parades in Chile), so I recommend that it be a little longer to see a military parade from a specific year. The "Grey German" uniform is due to the Prussian heritage of the Chilean Army after the Pacific War, today that suit would be used 1) by the cadets of the sub-officers school and also by sub-officers and officers, not like that as combat uniform. @@KingSloth El uniforme gris viene antes de la segunda guerra mundial, el ejército chileno buscó modernizarse durante el siglo 20 de ahí vienen los trajes e himnos, por eso el ejército tiene canciones como "erika" pero en solo instrumental, también panzerlied, Teufelslied (No de todo el ejercito) , marcha de san petersburgo, Westerwaldlied (Himno de la sección), funkerlied, lili marleen, Hohenfriedberger , konisberg marsch. hay muchas que no puedo nombrar por la cantidad. pero dejame aclarar que los cascos con una pua en la cabeza "pickelhaube" viene de la era prusiana chilena que viene desde 1885 y se modernizo en 1930-1940 (no tengo la fecha exacta en el que se modernizó pero fue por estas fechas)

@KingSloth in Chile there is no difference. You can see in the same parade traditional uniforms or modern uniforms. In the army, each soldier has several uniforms that can be used according to the context. Of course modern camo uniforms are the most used in daily basis, but for example those Grey Wehrmarcht looking ones can be seen aswell in certain offices in the center of the capital for example, or in places that requires more elegant clothes.

Vivo en Canadá, acá éstos milicos son profesionales, MUY bien entrenados y lo mejor es que tienen claro que es la gente a quien le deben su existencia, y saben mantenerse siempre en su lugar. Por eso se les respeta. Eso , además de haber participado en guerras VERDADERAS sin alardear de sus hazañas cumpliendo su deber. Y éstos, les pasarían por encima al ejército Chileno, no por mejor armamento sino por calidad de efectivos. Así de simple.
