"Downfall" The night of timeless fire is drawing near I flee... Throughout the years of throe Watching through a mirror, as I fall apart I see a wreck, I'm burning I see angels burning, falling down in ruins Looking down I see me, I'm my own enemy Watching myself decaying, falling from high spirits I flee... Throughout the ruins of me Longing for finding my way out Leaving myself, there's nothing left for me The ruins are about to crumble down. The flame is dying by shivery winds of jet black skies It reflects hatred in my eyes I see angels burning, falling down in ruins Looking down I see my ashes scattered around my grave Angels whispering fire, no longer I'm alive Settled down I'm done with the trip to my kingdom come

@@blind_channel_fp Wikipedia says that his birth name is Markku Uula Aleksi Laiho - is this the normal naming on Finnish, so he wouldn't be called Markku, or Uula? And in Finnish, is the same order as in English, i.e given name first then surname? I'm I'm Hungarian and the order is surname, then given name.

I spent my teenage years listening to an insane amount of COB. That and At The Gates. My best friends would all pile into the car after school and I would crank COB's Everytime I Die on these cheap ass wal mart 8" speakers in my trunk and we would just row the windows down and blast it as we left school. Those were the days ;) 20 years ago. I listen to COB because my best friend passed away 2022 and he would play all kinds of COB and was quite the player. We all grew up listening to Jason Becker, Michael Romeo and Yngwie Malmsteen. Listening to this music makes me my best friend so much. RIP Alexi

My Husband introduced me to this song back in 2004. I was so mesmerized by the style and musical dexterity. I only knew 70'S and 80's metal at the time...but this was a whole new experience. I am happy to say that I married that person who introduced me to this "whole new world". We celebrate our 15 year wedding anniversary in February!

***** I guess Farid just meant to point out, that, stricktly speaking, Finland is not a part of Scandinavia. Still, it's part of Fennoscandia, if you want to get specific. Not all Nordic countries reside on the Scandinavian peninsula. Also, our language is very different from the Germanic languages spoken in the Scandinavian countries. Apart from this side note, I fully agree with your ostensive definition. :)

Yep, Finland is a Northern country, not a Scandinavian one. Which in no way prevents its culture, history, language and music in that particular case, from being awesome :)

*Alexi Laiho Forever in our hearts Rest in peace!* I woke up this morning and the day struck me with the sad news that my favorite guitarist Alexi Laiho has passed away. One of the best guitarists of all time and my biggest musical influence. I remember one afternoon in 2008 when I listened to them for the first time, I didn't pay as much attention to it as when I listened to two albums again in 2011, I had started playing guitar for two years. Hearing the solo from "Children Of Decandence", I was amazed and repeated the guitar solo over and over again, I passed up every song from the album Hatebreeder and Follow The Reaper and said, "What I've been missing all this time" Alexi Laiho marked my beginnings and saved my life musically. When I formed my first band I called it "Hatebreeder" after one of his albums, which is not missing from my playlist wherever it is. I have so much to tell about my fascination with this artist and his music that I couldn't finish today. I could never see him play live, I dreamed of him and a few months ago, and just yesterday I was looking for a Jackson Flying V guitar. Because I've always wanted to play his songs on one of those guitars, because it was on them that he wrote his best music. Goodbye master, I hope to see you in the afterlife! ❤🖤 Children Of Bodom / Bodom After Midnight
