The actor who plays Charles lee ray in the beginning, and did the voice for Chucky ever after is Brad Dourif. We love Brad Dourif around here! He’s had plenty of other roles to speak of too; just look him up sometime… the most notable would be wormtongue, in lord of the rings

Funfact: The original concept for the film was that Andy would do blood brothers with Chucky, cutting his hand and giving Chucky his blood, which made him come to life. Obviously, they came up with a better idea. Voodoo isnt much more believable, but the possession angle provides a reason for Chucky to have the personality he does since he used to be human.

A big factor of what made this film scary at the time was the My Buddy doll Hasbro released in 1985. It was a fairly successful toy, so kids were well aware of it even if they didn't have one. I wonder if a lot of kids got rid of their Buddy after the film released. 🥺

I've seen this movie so many times. Until you pointed it out, I never realized the actress playing Maggie (Dinah Manoff) was Marty from Grease. Lol

The doll is supposed to be voice activated, so no, you don't need a button for making it say the "3 different phrases"... Irl there were toys like that in the 90s, not sure if in the 80s though

In 1985 there was an almost identical doll called My Buddy, which clearly inspired this movie. After the movie nobody wanted that doll anymore.

love this franchise though it could be that i found out after watching this first one that the actress who played aunt maggie is a distant cousin.

Which is funny, considering that the psychiatrist is Jack Colvin, who was Jack McGee in The Incredible Hulk television series.

Someone put together a collection of videos of haunted dolls on youtube. Its very very interesting. I remember one of them was a group of guys playing cards and someone with a camera was recording. IN the background they noticed a doll move its head and they all freaked out. The other one was a young Mexican girl on her sweet 16 and her last doll. The girl said she was ugly and the doll looked at her. She dropped it and screamed. Ebay used to offer haunted dolls as well. Some of them came with police reports. There are strange collectors out there.

Chucky was inspired by a 1963 "Twilight Zone" episode featuring a talking/murdering doll named Talkie Tina.

Chucky has the strength of an adult man, cuz thats what he really is.

I was 12 when I saw this and found it hilarious and even at that age I had enough logic to question why they didn't just kick Chucky or pick him up by the leg and ragdoll him around. Great reaction!

My daughter's loved this movie when they were young(we watched the edited for TV version 😉). They loved scary movies and they never believed them. 😊 Fun reaction

Also, wouldn't the fire dept dispose of a doll with bloodstains? I assume it was almost an immediate soul transfer and Charles was able to clean it off and shove himself back into the box and seal it? Still raises the question of how the homeless man beat EMS, Fire, and Police dept there. Well let's accept it, otherwise we'll ruin the enjoyment of the film lol

This franchise is so fun! I hope you can do the other films, and maybe the show. The show has 3 seasons, each with 8 episodes. As of right now, we don’t know if there will be another season, but we do know another film is coming at some point.

My favorite chucky movie is bride of chucky. That's probably because it was the first chucky movie i saw as a kid.

35 years later. Wow. Way back when studios were trying to make that next, new horror character. Child's Play was one of the most creative concepts of the era. Mixing the supernatural with mystery and suspense while still keeping the slasher feel. Brad Dourif in his performances as Chucky, from human to doll and through every installment has been incredible. I liked the first film and the 3 sequels that followed. After those, i was done with watching the franchise. It got a little too convoluted with the multiple continunities. Parts 2-4, 6 and 7 were from Universal Pictures. Of course, The Universal Monsters' legacy is a whole other success. But in the time that the franchise was with the studio, Chucky was made an honorary Universal monster. Fright Night (1985) is another classic by writer/director Tom Holland. His debut as an filmmaker and a fan-favorite vampire movie.

Just a heads up, don't forget that this is voodoo, so it wouldn't be surprising if he still retains his regular strength in the doll body 😅

Definitely watch the other Chucky movies but also check out the movies The People Under The Stairs(1991), Jeepers Creepers(2001), Halloween ll(1981), and Candyman(1992).

I think all the movies are pretty good up through *Bride of Chucky* (I haven't watched any of the newer ones in the 2000's)

This franchise would have been better if chucky did manage to transfer his soul into Andy’s body causing Andy to start showing psychopathic tendencies and eventually being institutionalized again

Just some constructive criticism but you should put a poster or a tapestry behind you to help with the rule of thirds. Understandable if you can’t but it just seems a little bland. The channel Shes Scared (Caitlin) has a good setup if need inspiration. Good video and keep uploading :)
