As a minority myself(native american and hispanic) yes its a thing I see often for the black and brown community get less jail time for crimes or can rack up tons and tons of charges but only see a short time in jail or probation.

I looked up what he was charged for, cause they dont mention it. He got charged for being an unauthorized person with a firearm that resulted in death/harm. 4 to 11 years. If there was no death the maximum range is 1 to 6 years. California is a joke. I can't believe yall don't see this is what blue states support. Wake up and vote right.

I worked in a busy ER as an RN and multiple times we got innocent people shot by random stupidity. So sorry for this little girl. A convicted felon with a gun, he needs a much longer sentence.

So pleased you workwd hard and achieved a miracle! I agree, i hope the family dont give up on the possibily of her walking again. Im surprised how often a patient is told they will never walk again by doctors but then the patient decides to try regardless and gets themselves walking again. I cant imagine how many people hear the same words and dont even try because they think what the doctor says is final. Doctors should encourage even a slim chance of mobility.

It's precisely because of our gun laws that we have guns everywhere. Gun crimes are common in America directly due to how easy it is for criminals to get guns. We have 30,000 gun deaths per year while Japan and the U.K. each have 100 and 200 per year. Our gun laws are literally the CAUSE. On the flip side, no enemy would ever dare attempt a military invasion.

That’s sad. I know that poor baby is confused wondering why she can’t move or do things that she use to. I have been in a wheelchair for twenty two years. I was twenty two when I was confined to this chair. She’s six and her life hadn’t even begun yet. It’s so much she will be missing out on. I pray that God blesses her to walk again. It’s no cakewalk. WTF!?! 4-11 years!?! He was a Convicted Felon with an armed robbery and child abuse in his criminal past, he was forbidden from owning/being in possession of a firearm and he paralyzed a child and he could end up doing only 4 years!?!?! It should be Life without Parole He has shown he is NOT going to obey the laws or conditions of his parole so why give him another chance to Destroy/End another persons life!?! Make this make sense!

He should not have been allowed to have a gun, accident or not, he should not have pointed it at their place and fired it. 4 to 11 years?! Not long enough. He is getting punished for what he did, but not harsh enough. He should also be forced to pay for all her medical bills, until their all paid off. I just hope that she makes a full recovery.

Meanwhile, Draya will serve a life sentence, paralyzed. I know it’s not easy, because I’ve been paralyzed for thirty years after a spinal cord injury. At least, in my case, I can breathe, sit up, and have full use of my arms and hands, unlike Draya. Her high injury will present more challenges than mine, it’s very expensive, medically challenging, requires a full time caretaker. Being paralyzed involves surprisingly so much more than just not being able to walk.

It's absolutely baffling how many bozos have a negligent discharge. That should not be this common. As a firearm owner, one of the first things they teach you is to treat every firearm as if it's loaded until you've verified physically and visually that it's not.
