Chickenbacker bass 4003W - Roswell pickup upgrade
Upgrading the stock pickups of my China-made Rickenbacker 4003W replica.
Replacing the pickups with the Roswell RKB-N-CR & Roswell RKB-B-CR.
The sound is still nowhere near the real Rickenbacker sound or sustain, but overall, I am happy with this change: the pickups look and feel much more premium, and the output is much higher.

Those stock bridge pickups are wired very hot, and have some serious magnet pull. Maybe it is the neck pickup that was weak.

do you have a link for the company of this Rickenbacker you ordered? I’ve been looking for a good burgundy Rickenbacker that is similar to the one Cliff Burton uses but every one I find either the color is off or the neck isn’t right. So I’m thinking of trying what you did and asking companies to help me

Hello! When I originally bought it, it needed a lot of work on the frets (my luthier fixed this). The pickup change took me 45 minutes, without extra setup work. Just soldering and installing

I got a Squire Chickebacker. It costs about $600 to set up, new bridge and Duncan 50s P bass pups in it. Setting up the neck right was the hardest part. I didn't do it. Still cheaper than a real one. I went into it knowing that it would need major work. I also didn't expect it to sound like Ric. I'm happy I can get a good sound out of it. Would I do it again? Probably not.
beautiful. i would never buy a ric gibson or fender. id rather not spend 5 grand. id rather customize a $200 instrument that no one has.🍻

Idd 😅, maar super vet ding man. Ik speel dus medium scales , van maruszczyk en zou t vet vinden om een mediumscale rick te hebben denk je dat dat bedrijf uit china zo iets zou kunnen? Body is gewoon normaal maar lengte brug naar topkam is 32 inch. En ik heb gewoon 21 fretten. Groetjes danny

Maar super vette bass, denk je dat dat bedrijf een medium scale kan maken ? Lengte nek korter 32 inch ipv 34 of als een echte rick33,25? Ik speel zelf medium scale van maruszczyk jazz bass en pbass

Hello, not really that sad. Ordered a real one as well, but waiting since many months for mine to arrive. The company is not hurt, it looks like they go for the exclusitivity approach.
