The bit I love about this is Ginger's characters she's a coddling parent who went through some traumatizing hijinks and she doesn't want her daughter to experience what she experienced, the bit where one chicken is butchered, fried, and processed into nuggit ginger pulls her daughter away and goes "look at me and do not look away" she's seen that type horror and doesn't and Molly to see what she has seen over her life, I loved that

This movie also made me realize how inhumane and unethical Ms. Tweedy was going about killing chickens, just throwing them into grinders. There r more humane ways to kill a chicken so they don't feel pain, but she chose the most violent way of killing a chicken. And woman, if u hate chickens, chose a different profession

Stuff like that happens in real life, too. It's sick. Even in freaking Sweden, a country of supposedly pretty good animal protection laws, a certain factory literally did that. @@WobblesandBean Baby chicks shouldn't even be slaughtered. Putting them on a conveyor belt to be dropped into a machine shows a huge lack of compassion and heart, be it adults or babies. They should live to adulthood at least, in a space where they can roam without crowding and eat well and be healthy. You can't slaughter baby chickens, it's too sad and immoral. I'd rather the adults be drugged to sleep with a gas too, like humans going in for surgery, before they're put in a machine. I grew up with chickens as pets, I love them, they have such interesting social lives and a lot of sounds to communicate, I can't stand the inhumane ways they're being treated.

Great video and points! Though I just wanted to raise a counterpoint to your dismissal or Molly as a stereotypical rebellious teen who just wants to explore the world. Whilst I do agree that she definitely needed more character, her wanting to explore the world made sense because she felt trapped where she was because Ginger wouldn't let her explore the outside world which is ironic because all Ginger ever wanted to do in the first movie was to escape where she was and discover the outside world. You might say it's repetitive but I'd argue that it adds nuance to Ginger's character as she takes on a caring, motherly role that is completely new to her

I was also frustrated at the silo, but mainly because they could easily shovel the corn to one side and use it as a ramp. No popcorn needed. Also Mrs Tweedy falling into the grinder on screen horrified me. I thought we were seeing some Kingsman 2 stuff and that she would end up nuggets that Sir Eats A Lot would taste. They gave me (and any kids watching) all of the shock of it without the consequences, which sadly is a capitalistic sign of the movie being set up for a series of chicken saving adventures to preserve Tweedy as a villain.

I thought it wasn't totally an unnecessary sequel. I thought it made sense for ginger to be protective to the point that she created an environment where Molly would feel trapped in, since she takes after her mother. It felt a bit like that "if people talked, they probably wouldn't have a conflict..." problem. But could Molly then have had one of those "I'm not like you, mom! I'm smarter, I can take care of myself, I'm not going to get caught" complexes that made her a bit more interesting and made it a pride thing for her? Was it as good as Chicken run? Not to me. I was kinda disappointed that Mrs. Tweedy didn't die when she was fried. I was shocked when she fell to the tube and exited fully fried because it surpassed my expectations on what would happen. I was expecting the fall, but not the actual scene of her falling with her axe. I thought that was extremely dark and risky....until she started chasing the main characters. (Sorry, apparently I wanted too much horror in a family movie, hahaha, now that I think about it, that would have been toooooo far)

I did not like this movie. It had its moments but the first one did such a good job of balancing the humour and the dark serious moments. It felt like they were explaining their own jokes way too much and that pop song at the start of the movie just pissed me off. I don't have anything against pop in general but I am sick of hearing hollow pop songs that movies like to use for some reason. Also they did Babs dirty. In the first, she was just a bit airy and clueless sometimes but in this one it felt like they made her outright stupid

This is really subjective, The balance of humour and dark serious moments, made more sense with the first film, because the entire film takes place in a literal allegory for a prisoner of war camp whereas the sequel takes place where they are free, and then having to break into a concentration/death camp. As soon as the film gets to the part with the factory and the actual threat, it becomes more serious and dark with slight humour in it. I don’t agree with this complaint outright. "Also they did Babs dirty. In the first, she was just a bit airy and clueless sometimes but in this one it felt like they made her outright stupid” There is not much difference between the way the two are shown or depicted in movies, Babs was always shown to be in her own world, and clueless about things didn’t really feel much of a change there that stood out specifically.

@@BladeAllen666you can dislike the movie Just have actual good criticisms And not petty and or nostalgic whining about the first movie. I'll give you a perfect example of a real criticism of the film The score, yes they got John Powell back to do it, but the main music for the film is a mix of the original films score and while fun doesn't carry the same weight or gravity of the original score The original opening score with the opening montage crawl of the first film is very epic and grandiose The building of the crate and prepping to escape scores used later in the film are powerful and invoke the feeling of ingenuity and courage carried by the characters. The second film's score is fine but there are no real grandiose score moments or moments like that that do compare. I think that was one of the film's biggest flaws, was losing out on the epic score themes that the first film excelled at. That's a real criticism not "Well I found the face off putting with the new cast, therefore bad film" Or "Character I misremembered doing stuff was worse despite doing similar things this movie". Crap that seems to be the majority of problems people had with it. Superficial, petty or rimmed by nostalgic pandering that doesn't hold up.

Well I think the mission impossible theme for the 2nd movie. Is cuz the Aardman studios have always wanted to make a ridiculous claymation movie like that. That's why the wrong trousers is the way it is. Lol just something I remember hearing from watching stuff on the studio and like special features on the movies. I'm a bigger fan of Wallace and grommet and chicken run not that much. But the 2nd looks fun, gonna give it a watch. :)

On one thought, it’s may have been an unnecessary sequel because there have Ben speculation having a continuation both in and out of Aardman. On the other hand, it’s is a decent film that still on point over the top claymation that we know and love. But yeah, we all asked how did Mrs. Tweedy survive the falling door from the first. Well I ask for this movie on WHAT is she and HOW did she even survive that fall!?!?

I’ve been eating for this video! I had a lot of feelings about this movie that I just couldn’t quite place but what pig said about just making the small town aspect and character writing being stronger summed it all up perfectly. I agree that the movie was good but not as strong as the original and good in its own way separately from the original. I also think it’s kinda bs to hire someone else for the role of Ginger so no one would notice why they didn’t bring back Mel Gibson. If anything people would’ve been supportive of the studio not straight up ignoring what he’s done and not trying to cover it up by replacing someone his original costar who was perfectly fine for the role. The excuse that she sounded “too old” was completely bs not only because the age gap was only 4 YEARS, but because an older voice would’ve shown how much time had passed and emphasized her new role as a parent. Besides Ginger just ended up sounding older with Thandiwe Newton anyway!

Here in Brazil they kept the same dub actors, except for Dario Castro because he passed away back in 2021 (he was the main dub actor for Mel Gibson here in Brazil), but all the actors came back for the dub. So I guess being “old” was not a problem for us. But it was probably because of Mel's controversy. However, I do agree a little bit with the age thing, just check Incredible 2 voices, they all aged, and they didn't do a time skip, so is like-Wow Mister Incredible your voice aged almost 20 years in just a week? (They could have avoided this if they did a time skip).
