Chicken Dressing Casserole

Chicken Dressing Casserole
2 pounds boneless chicken breasts, cooked and cubed (or a rotisserie chicken)
Mrs. Dash Onion and Herb Seasoning
2 (10.5 ounce) cans Cream of Chicken Soup
1/4 cup whole milk
1 onion, chopped
2 stalks celery, sliced thin
12 oz. Stove Top Stuffing
2 cups chicken broth
2 sticks butter, melted
Preheat oven to 375°. Spray a 9”x13” inch casserole dish.
Cook chicken breasts, allow to cool slightly, and chop into bite sized pieces. (Or shred a rotisserie chicken.). Spread in the bottom of casserole dish.
Lightly sprinkle the chicken with the Mrs. Dash Seasoning.
Stir together the soups, milk, onion, and celery. Pour this mixture evenly over the chicken.
In the same bowl, stir together the contents of the Stove Top Stuffing packages, the chicken broth, and the melted butter. Spread the stuffing gently over the soup mixture to cover the top.
Bake at 375° for 40 minutes.

May I tell you this is the ONLY cooking show I watch where I don’t come away with questions on how or when to do something. I’m not much of a cook, and never learned all the nuances of cooking tasty dishes, so your descriptions and the way you explain everything plainly without rushing through the things most people know how to do is so helpful to me! My car was T-boned by a bus years ago, and the brain injury left me with memory and understanding how to follow instructions problems. Your videos make it so I feel confident enough to try making some the dishes you’ve shown us. I am eternally grateful to you for making this cooking adventure accessible to me! God bless!

I was making this casserole one day, and had a few unexpected guests stop in for a visit. I invited them to stay for dinner, and to bulk up the casserole to feed a few extra hungry tummies, i cooked about half a package of egg noodles and slipped them in the layers between the chicken and dressing, and added an extra can of cream of chicken soup, making 3 small cans total, and baked it just an additional few mins since it was thicker. I used a deep dish lasagna pan for it. It turned out amazing, almost like dressing casserole meets chicken tetrazzini. Every morsel got eaten and my family begs me at least once a month to make it now, they loved it!

I love this casserole. My grandma made this for me and my 2 kids for years at least 2 times a month and would drop it by out house. My grandma was a 1000% good. Cook. My dad wanted to buy her a restaurant, however her and my grandpa were Cotton farmers who worked very hard along with my uncle and his wife who helped then when my uncle wasn't at work at the creamery. My grandma was the best cook knew. My boss used to pay her after her and my grandpa retired to cook a meal foe all of us at work and he took the rest home. This happened about every 2 weeks. She would make what ever he wanted. She wouldn't let him lay her she only allowed him to pay for the ingredients. I love to watch you cook because you like to make good flavorful good like my grandma. She was a great cook and made awesome country food also.

You can put this on in the morning with chicken breasts and the chicken breast that may be frozen and not cooked and put them in the bottom of a sprayed crockpot. Then layered just as you did the remaining ingredients and put it on low to have after work or high if it’s going to be something you’ll eat that afternoon. Don't forget to toss the bones in a big pot of water with chopped celery tops, onion, carrots, parsley and garlic. Season with salt and pepper and McComick's Season-All. Simmer for an hour or so. Pick through when cool enough to handle. I have 3 containers: one for the chicken meat, one for the bones and one for the other scraps that the cat adores. I don't strain the broth because I don't care whether it's perfectly clear, it usually gets used for my Hot and Sour Soup. Or just for Homemade Chicken Noodle Soup. I've also used it in French Onion Soup! SO GOOD!! Why throw the bones away when buying chicken broth is so expensive and you can make it for pennies?

For the holiday dinner my aunt would make a simple stuffing to put in the turkey. My mother would name a dressing with enough butter that she could form it into balls that would then go in the oven, she also added sausage. Most of the stuffing from the turkey was saved to feed the birds. Everyone had a feast.

I love this recipe! One way we make our turkey dinner go further is to make leftover turkey casseroles by planning ahead. First we buy 2 or 3 disposable tin foil casserole containers with the cardboard lids. Then We buy a bag of frozen stuffing, make extra carrots and potatoes, and have a few cans of chicken or turkey gravy. Cook all of this. Mash the potatoes as usual. Put all the food except the extra gravy on the table, and the frozen stuffing. I heat the frozen stuffing in a slow cooker for 4 hours. It’s usually perfect. When dinner is done, I remove all of the turkey from the bones. I then layer the disposable casseroles with a layer of turkey, then a layer of the dressing, and pour gravy over top. Then I add a layer of carrots and finish with a layer of mashed potatoes. (Like a shepherd’s pie). Add the lids. Put these in the freezer. They stack well btw. Come January or February I can pull out a turkey casserole in the morning. Throw it in the oven after work on 350 F and we have ourselves a wonderful homemade turkey dinner without any extra work…or clean up! So good!

I'm a HUGE Thanksgiving nut. Favorite holiday of the year! This is a lot like a Swiss Chicken Casserole I make at least once a month. In the casserole dish, lay out four raw chicken breasts (or 2 breasts butterfly-cut, followed by a slice of Swiss cheese (or Provolone) on top of each, then a Cream of Chicken/white wine/chicken broth mixture poured across the dish, and a layer of stuffing/dressing. Baked for 40 minutes at 375 and served atop a bed of rice. One of my favorites but I will have to try this way! Great video! Thank you!

I’m a chicken and dressing lover! At thanksgiving I don’t even cook Turkey dressing. I boil a chicken sometimes a hen just bc it’s the way my Mama made it! I much prefer chicken over turkey unless it’s smoke or fried. But I still use chicken stock in my dressing. This is why I think I will love this casserole. This is my first time on your channel but it won’t be my last. I can tell how meticulous you are in the kitchen as well as organized and clean. I like that! Plus I love it when a man cooks bc my late husband never did. But he sure loved my cooking. Now that I think about it, it’s not that it was that great! He didn’t want to starve! Or eat fried egg sandwiches all the time which was HIS specialty! Lol gosh I miss him! We were married 39 years and brain cancer took his life. What a lovely man you are! Thank you for this, never thought to buy Costco chickens and pull it off the carcass and freeze it?! Great idea, Costco chickens are always too big for me but this I can do and make a casserole half this size. Turkey dinner is also my favorite meal of the year😍

Make something similar, get a jar of chicken gravy, and the cooked chicken(I've used canned chicken) mix together add some pepper. Now made Stove Top as directed. Plate up stuffing and then laddle the chicken and gravy on top! 😋 yummoo

I love making these kinds of dishes up. I just grab and mix up whatever and layer it up with potatoes, dressing or rice. One box is perfect for a smaller casserole. We just had one with cornbread on top last week. 😍😁

I love the way you explain the ingredients before you make the recipe. Nice to see someone else making sure you get all the food out of the cans and bowls don’t like wasting food.😊 12:15

So happy to see this gentleman using a spatula. There is too much waste, when l see someone just using a spoon there is so much left in the can and thrown away, l think of my mother-in-law saying " you will chase a crow a mile for that one day" your recipe looks delish.

I enjoyed watching you layer everything. Didn't thing there was anyone else as neat and tidy cooking (scraping all the bowls etc). The recipe looks devine. Can't wait to make it. 😊

I made this a few days ago for my mother and me. I didn't think we'd be able to eat it all (flavor fatigue), but we got 3 meals out of it and I kept going back for snacking! I used cream of mushroom soup cuz it's what we had on hand but bought the Mrs. Dash seasoning. Absolutely delicious recipe, thank you!

Lots of options with this. I make something similar but without the chicken soup but will be adding that next time. I always put green peppers in my dressing so I put it in my chicken dressing casserole. As I said plenty of options and it’s very forgiving .

Oh my goodness! 😮 I'll be making this for dinner this weekend!! I always buy a rotisserie chicken from Costco and break it apart, so it'llbe simple to break it down even further for this dish! I love brussel sprouts and I also love honey carrots!! 😋😋 Perfect dinner for me!!

What you call dressing, we refer to as seasoning or stuffing. It's usually made from scratch....bread cubes, diced onions, mixed herbs and melted butter. The bread mixture is placed in the cavity of a whole chicken and then roasted. So this looks like a deconstructed roast chicken with seasoning, using the soup and stock to give moisture to the dish. We'll give your recipe a bash in the next day or two. A new shop in town called International Foods stocks most of the ingredients listed, along with lots of other popular American brands. Once we had Campbells chicken soup but it was awful! Still, we really enjoyed Jiffy Cornbread mix and use it regularly. Thanks for the time and effort you both put in to your channel, we certainly appreciate what you guys do. Sending aroha from Aotearoa New Zealand.
