@PurpleOnThree I don't have any favorites. Every ride has its memorable moments to me. Anything from a kid excited to point me out or the 80 year young grandma wanting a picture sitting on the bike, even to the rain stinking my skin on a hot day. I'm just thankful to enjoy all of it. I'm a 3 times cancer survivor, blessed by God !!

Yes, Eric! Those roads were not fun and from Chicken to the border I cried a time or two because of the road conditions...I couldn't even keep up with Tommy. Yes, Jim was hilarious! I never thought to get his contact info...I sent a message to Chicken Gold Camp, hoping they can get in touch with him so he can watch this video someday...if someone helps him figure out what KZread is lol. You should see the snow we have here! And it's darn cold!! Hope you are keeping warm there!

lol...well, Stephan, we did have a lot of wildfires in the area both in Alaska and in the Yukon. I can't say I noticed a huge difference between there and where we live out in the country, but then again, the night sky didn't start until the middle of the night as we had 20 hours of daylight when we were there, so I was snoozing when it was "night" sky lol 🤷🏻‍♀️😁

Good one Jody, enjoyed this, It's definately on my list to go gold panning. But the Chickentown references put the creepy 'Chickentown' song from John Cooper Clarke in my head. If you haven't heard it, don't google it. It's cuss word every second word... Aha, does Tommy G mean Tommy Gold!

The road conditions were so rough for us...in my last long video (the one about striking it rich gold panning) I show how my go pro mount broke in three places...it was aluminum and I was shocked that happened. Frost heaves, Darren....the roads in Alaska are quite rough and much of the time I was concentrating on keeping my Spyder in one piece and missed some of the scenery around me...

Yep! That aluminum mount had broken in three places and I discovered that when we got to the campground...I didn't have an extra mount with me so that was the end of my handlebar mount for the rest of this trip. I have two more of different sizes here at home to try.

Hi Wendy! Thank you... This was our last town in Alaska before we started our Trek home. Yes, there were concerns with the gravel roads because there was so many miles of them and not just in Alaska also in the Yukon Territory. If you watch my Alaska video that I did before this one... the one about striking it rich and gold fever, you will see at the end on our way to Chicken, that my aluminum GoPro mount broke on my handlebars because the roads were so rough. I just had to take it slowly. I could not keep up with Tommy on his two wheels because of the only 4 inches of clearance on the Spyder. I'm thankful and we both are thankful that we didn't get flat tires and I am thankful that I had no issues with the belt. 🙏💜🤗

Hey there, Rusty! Let's just say, I would not recommend a street bike in the interior of Alaska or in the Yukon in Canada. We are grateful there weren't any issues. I believe there is only one Can-Am Spyder dealer in Alaska...more than one off road dealer though. We had tools with us, a jump start pack, air compressor and tire plug kit and are extremely grateful we did not need to use any of that stuff! We also put brand new tires on before we left home (it's 4300 miles just to the border of Alaska from our house) and we each had our bikes serviced before we left. I also shipped an oil kit to a friend's house at North Pole and was able to change my oil there. So, we did some preventative maintenance but still...I worried about my belt with all that gravel. Thank you! Guess what? I had two almost headache free days in a row...I am thankful for that. Can't wait to get back out there and ride some more!! Have a blessed day! Hope you and your wife are out there enjoying some rides! 💜🤗

Well, Roberto, there is a story about this...Google it but here is what I found and we had been told this in Alaska as well: "In 1902 the local post office was established, requiring a community name. Due to the prevalence of ptarmigan in the area, that name was suggested as the official name for the new community. However, the spelling could not be agreed on, and "Chicken" was used to avoid embarrassment" and that's from Wikipedia. Well, maybe the CEO struck it rich. If you look up Chicken Gold Camp on Facebook, there are some pretty cool pics of folks who have joined the "one ounce" club!

Yes, would have been super cool to see! When I was a kid, my grandparents took us to a beach in Florida...they retired to Florida...maybe Venice beach and there was a dredge there working...we got some amazing sea shells there!! If you check out Chicken Gold Camp on Facebook, you will see some pretty cool pics of folks in the "one ounce" club...so I would say, yes, it's still worth a look through that paydirt...maybe there is just more dirt than they can look through themselves.... 🤷‍♀🤷‍♀🤷‍♀🤷‍♀🤷‍♀🤷‍♀

Non flushable toilets??? Water by the minute?? I don’t think it’ll be a place I stay!!!

LOL...sometimes, we just had to stay where we stayed on this trip...not a lot of options...we did enjoy our stay and the price was right (even with the water by the minute lol)..I would go back! And the road to Dawson City, Yukon (Top of the World Highway) was no picnic so we couldn't make good time at all to get there before the border crossing closed. What an adventure! 🤗💜💙😁✌🏻🙏🏻

UHH, water is a dollar a minute.... well, a one minute shower is do-able 😅

Not much there...but it IS Alaska...lol...and people still go there to make their fortune with gold! I think it is so cool that there is still much gold there!

And just exactly how much does a giant ptarmigan weigh??? Inquiring minds want to know lol!! So, is there an answer to your question?? I don't think we saw any ptarmigans or chickens (real ones) while we were in Alaska...We did see some bug eating magpies though!! They cleaned my Spyder grill out very, very well!! 😂💜🤗💙

With that being said, we can tell that it doesn't weigh as much as it looks like it should, well edible portions. First there manY, manY feathers that are " puffed out ?? " Tha are there to protect them from natural predators. Then feet are unable to be eaten for the most part, but Can be used as weapons, in the right hands. 🥴. Then the head of course, have some parts considered as delicates. Then skull the can be mounted, to show off or scare off, of course that's a priceY additional option. Did Not see anY chickens, while in Chicken Alaska ?? That's a good observation. However That's Not unusual at all. As You and TommY G, MaY have come to realize, that are manY manY forms of Wildlife, and Wilderness creatures, I'm sure the chickens are being consumed bY such creatures. I mean theY can't all live off fresh Fish, All the time?? Another reason that the Alaska Ptarmigan is secluded and protected. 🥴😎🇺🇲.

When we raised chickens, both for eggs and also meat birds, someone asked me to save the feet when we butchered so they could make soup out of them...I'm like, nope, not doing that...not walking around with a bag of chicken feet...@@thegrumpyolgringo 🐔🐔🐔🐔🐔🐔

Yes, Rob, it was a bummer! We had to get out the Yukon Jack instead, lol, BUT our new friends, Debbie and Jim, were kind enough to share some fresh brewed coffee the next morning! Such lovely folks! Hope you have a blessed new year!! 🤗💜🙏🏻
