Ex military here and my units deployment rules apply to motorcycle travel. 40Liter / 11 kilos will get you around the world. Hold your hands out and cup them together like you're hugging someone, everything you need can fit inside that hug. Roll your clothes and keep the weight LOW on the bike. Great tips Pavlin.

Agree!
When I first set out on a long journey, I brought my entire room with me. I think I only left behind my bass guitar and amplifier. After a few years of traveling, I now carry a 25-liter backpack, and that's more than enough for me. This video is exactly how I would describe to someone what I would take with me now.

True!
Too many channels nowadays say things like "dump your old reliable tent, buy new expensive ultralight one" to save weight and/or make your trip successfull. Those are no more than thinly disguised commercials, IMO. Your channel makes more sense: use what you got, bring less and use your brain. So, if one is planning a trip to - say - Elbonia, how does one actually ship the spare tires and oil in advance ? Send them to hotel you are going to visit and call or email them ? Something else ?
@motorcycleadventures

You don't need to ship them, you can buy from there.

In my time the more I traveled the less I took. If you don't use it leave it behind.. The less you take the more fun trip it is. Bare essentials only. Muti use equipment is a big plus. Sometimes i may not take a photo. I like the ride more. With nothing to prove or show it is much better. Light is right. I ride the ride. Twist the grip. RTW. Happy New Year Pavlin. Good video Pavlin, good objective recommendations! Weight is THE most important aspect in a trip. One thing that I personally won't do is carry as few clothes as you do, I want to be comfortable when I'm not riding and not taking tent and camping gear I can afford to carry jeans and a few more shirts and a pair of decent walking shoes.

My brother, I love your minimalistic approach to ADV riding. It is said, The true test of intelligence is how much you agree with the person speaking. As a person from meager beginnings and now over 60 years I agree with you completely. I would love to one day ride with you.

I felt a bit dumb that only after years of motorcycling I finally did weigh my bags. I like to be quite self sufficient if needed as I like to travel quite remote places solo so some tools and spare parts, tent, gas stove etc are included so the weight goes up quite fast. For last trip I planned to go up to month on the road and I had "only" 3x 18 litre OS-18 kriega bags 7kg's each including the bag so no tank bags etc. It sounds quite heavy and I'm in the process of taking some kg's off but it feels like it is easier to take weight off from my belly. I dont pack my bags full becouse I like to have some space for food and water etc. So I would advise to weigh what you carry and make a list of all the stuff you carry so it is easier to modify it for future trips.

Oh and as it is not possible to be prepared for every possible technical problem I like to do some research and pick like 1 or 2 common (and preferably cheap) problems of the bike you are riding and prepare for them. Couple years ago I had very great luck with this tactic and fixed my fuel pump on small italian town as I knew it was quite common problem with the XRV 750 I had back then. Of course you can solve many problems on your trip without any parts or tools but it might be a bit more expensive and might take few days. Riding with buddies this would be MUCH easier

I am certain that the osmo action camera will serve you well. I have the action 3 and am very happy with it. Only thing I note is that in hyperlapse it sometimes will just shut off by itself - not often but sometimes. Fortunately I have set it to make a sound when it does and I have it mounted on the handlebar so it is easy to restart. I have never had an overheating ptoblem - possibly because I dont keep the screen on all the time.

The lone rider tent ⛺️ gives you great options. Rain - park the bike inside, bring lightweight tall cot, able to pack up bike while dry, cook meals and sit in tent ⛺️ I even have the extension poles to allow for an extended camping area. Take a look at this tent ⛺️ it packs down small enough, I find it a great investment for camping ⛺️ and traveling on my motorcycle 🏍️ 😊

Good tips from an experienced traveller, Pavlin. On journeys everybody finds out that we take too much luggage. That experience helps to plan the next trip with less. Less is more. But I do have tools and spare parts, rather more than less. Because the bike is paramount, it transports me form A to B and back. By the way, the bike parts you carry won't be needed ;-) Have a great 2024, Günter/Nürnberg

If your riding jacket and pants are waterproof, you don't need a rain jacket. Instead, get a 12V heated jacket that you can wear after riding, too. Get a small 12V tire pump (and sticky string plugger) and a LiOn jumper battery that can jump your bike AND has a USB port. How do you recharge that pump of yours?
