D.B is such a badass. It's like he's a caged animal wanting to break out lol So prolific. Just love his flare and all that stuff.
Wow. Dawayne absolutely lights it up at the end
Dawayne Bailey; an absolute joy to watch!! And the inimitable Bill Champlin! This band never rocked so good as when Bill & Dawayne were in! (excluding the short Kath decade) Great song!
Good point. He brought some fire back to the lead guitar position.
Danny Seraphine once said to Champlin, "I'll stop over-playing when you stop over-singing." Now I see what Danny was talking about - Jeez!

Well, Bill and Danny have buried the hatchet, so all of that is in the past. Personally, I think things were beyond horrible after Peter left--or maybe before--who knows? David Foster once wrote that you had to make an appointment with the members of the group because they got to a point where they were not talking to each other. From what I've gathered in the interviews Bill has done, the atmosphere was very toxic, and deep down inside he was glad to finally get out of it. Danny has admitted the same thing.

He may be overplaying, but I like this
This song is VERY WELL WRITTEN... always been a favorite of mine.
Still love Bill's voice and Dawayne's melody 'nd playing after all those years :)
Can never be TOO much soul IMO...especially from a voice like Bill's.
One more important point....A terrific job in introducing this song by none other than one of Chicago's founding member's James Pankow. James is an American trombone player, songwriter, brass instrument music artist and arranger. (and one of the talented members of the band - Chicago.) Thanks for posting this video. (hello to juantoletemex) Enough said. Best regards. Vaya con dios. (go with god; go in peace). Mike....The Lone Wolf.
One of my favorite Chicago tunes, maybe THE favorite, from the late 80's. Nice live performance from '92. The four front guys look good, especially Bill C and Dawayne B. Go ahead and rip it up, guys, I love it!
He’s a fine guitarist. I love his altissimo playing
"You're Not Alone" is the name of a song written by Jim Scott and recorded by the band Chicago for their 1988 album Chicago 19, with Bill Champlin singing lead vocals and Dawayne Bailey on lead electric guitar; fabulous performance. Thanks Bill; Dwayne and all of the band - Chicago. Thanks for posting this video. (hello to juantoletemex) Mike.
Nice Carlos! Even back then Bill was changing it up! Never the same twice, even today...love it!! Dawayne sounds incredible! That guy sure had a stage presence! Really knows how to rock!
CHICAGO ROCKS
Very underrated guitarist!
i remember meeting for the first time with (guitarist) Dwayne & (bassist) Jason after their CHiCAGO rock concert @ The Pier in New York City. they were really cool cats to hang with!
This song proves in the healing power of good rock and roll music; furthermore the emphasis: "The importance and the simple truth that all of us know. In life's ups and downs of relationships that have gone awry, we all are in this together". "Remember to help someone in need and in turn, you will know that you're not alone". Thanks for posting this video. (hello to juantoletemex) Enough said. Best regards. Vaya con dios. (go with god; go in peace). Mike....The Lone Wolf.

Incredible! If DB was still with them doing that kind of soloing, I'd be going to the Chicago concert this summer. And that fret board playing and hammer on pull off stuff? You could say that's a tribute to TK since he did it on the CTA album in Free Form Guitar way back in '69.
i saw chicago a couple of weeks ago, and they played this song that night. bill actually did a guitar solo that was pretty amazing since he's really the organ/keyboard player anymore. he and keith expanded the guitar harmony part for a few more bars too. it was a nice song to throw in to their show.
this is the best. better than ori.ver. these guys really play this song. i think.
Chicago was wretched at this point.
Dwayne Bailey at his best!

I was going to comment on how much I love him in Chicago
Great Video.
このラインナップはChicagoの最高のラインナップの一つ。
I love the introduction from Jimmy saying "So anyway, do you wanna rock n' roll?" and then they morph into a (semi-)ballad! :) One of my fave songs from this era anyway, love it!

It's a power ballad with a lot of guitar. Jimmy has to hang up his trombone and play keyboards on this one.
buenisima cancion!! y el guitarrista es de lo mejor!!
It's my native language, my friend. Thanks for visiting my channel. Saludos... I mean... best regards from México.
That's f****** right that's Dwayne Bailey on guitar.
is Axl Rose playing lead guitar? ah, sorry, is Dawayne Bailey
@junjie37 His name is Dawayne Bailey, and he's one of thee most underrated (and over-criticized) guitarists of all time. He's one musician whose playing may be rooted in metal, but the spectrum of music he's encompassed transcends stylistic barriers. (I'm even prepared to mention Dawayne in the same breath with Sting.)
Dawayne Bailey is awesome... best guitarist in Chicago aside from Terry Kath! This era of Chicago was really great though, even though it's typically not looked at as highly as the older stuff. This song in particular is AWESOME.
I agree. He overdoes it on vocals sometimes. Not to take anything away from his musicianship as a whole though, as you've stated.
God, I am so old
Bello x siempre D.B
Uuuuufffffff Dwayne Bailey!!! Se le extrañaaa!
Hola, Lisa!! Buen comentario. Saludos!!
@juantoletemex the best songs, look away and you're not alone =/
Why in the hell did Dawayne leave the band? He provided to coolness and the edge that Chicago was missing.
@Robin-xt7yo

I agree. But that's probably why he left... he had the coolness and edge... not so middle-of-the-road. He was very refreshing for the band, but that may have been the problem for the "old timers".

Absolutely - he probably brought in fans that might have not noticed Chicago as much - though each member is very talented of course!!!!

Both "And The Band Played On" and "Live at the Greek Theater" are on DVD but they are Japanese imports and they are in region code 2 instead of 1 (standard code is 1 for the U.S.) You have to buy a region free DVD player then you can play then like I did. Good luck!!
Bailey the best guitar!
Does anyone out there know if this concert is released on either VHS or DVD? This live version of one of my favorite Chicago tunes is awesome!
Without Bill champlin and Dwayne Bailey who is CT hey?
Dawayne, hands down!!!! And Bill has such a beautiful, cool voice, he doesn't need to do all that... uhm... how you call it?... well, all that...
Can't really do this song in concert anymore. Bill, Jason and Dwayne aren't in the band anymore.
@PhilUSM Also Dialogue and Look Away
dawayne bailey 😎
Dwayne Bailey Rock ! I wish Chicago had kept him. I like Bill Chaplin, if only he would just stand and sing the damn song and leave the excess growling and ad lib stuff to a minium.
@PhilUSM I don't know. The producer wanted only about 60 minutes.
@juantoletemex i guess thats why it was only 60 minutes. thanks
@juantoletemex i have the 3cd pack of chicagos greatest hits and this wonderful song is on it
DB's beginning of the end was when he started fooling around with Felicia Parazaider.

They really had a relationship I always thought it was a friendship with sex I didn't know about this supposed betrayal of him The felicia should be very pretty younger, is still up!

He deserved to be canned. How stupid of him to mess with a founding member's daughter.
I Know Bailey's no Kath but he was their next best guitarist, He might be the missing link between Hendrix and Eddie Van Halen. Chicago fan's bag this 80's era of the band, But if they didn't change their style to the fashion they would'nt still be here. It was a sad day when they fired Bailey.
@juantoletemex do you know why they didnt include those 3 songs on and the band played on? I have the tape and its a killer perfomance and it wouldve been great to have those songs.
Do they still tour????

Yes Whole Lot
ain't the same without Danny Serephine!!
Lead guitarist rocks , jason was not so good here, Bill Looked pretty sharpe here. Loved to seen more of Robert Lamm at this time in history.
@imuxizian What's the problem if he wanted to include spanish text?
@utahdrumtech I agree with you. I feel "19" was one of Chicago's weaker efforts, but this song is great. Wish the rest of this CD was as convincing!

That cd actually went platinum. It had 4 top 10 songs and even some of the songs not released as singles were great. Like Runaround. It was one of my favorite CDs of theirs.
was this the only song not included
I remember when they didn't suck
what's a bath tube...?
agree with you buddy... sorry to say but terry kath's voice comes out naturally eventhough he overdoes it sometimes. bailey should be in megadeth or anthrax!!!
Guns and Roses needed a replacement for Axl Rose
Rotten quality for such a brillant song! Have you recorded this in your bath tube? ;-)
@DerGrenzgaenger Yes, I was cleaning my ass, actually,
i like bailey as much as kath. wayne certainly is faster, but terry has a very unique style and a great voice.
bring bailey back! bring bailey back!
I never knew axl rose played guitar in Shitcago.
You know - I have a lot of respect for Bill. Terrific singer, terrific songwriter, terrific keyboardist, great arranger. But I really detest it when he over-emotes on these songs. Some times, too much soul, Bill. When he gets into it, I start wanting to make him bran muffins Especially around the two minute mark. Ugh
Never thought Champlin fit Chicago. This just proves it.
This group is boring since Dawayne Bailey was dumped in 1993

Painful to watch and hear…really bad…
I like Bill Champlin, but when he improvs and over sings so much that it doesn't even sound like the original song, it annoys me. This just sounds like a mess. And I do truly love Chicago, but not live with Bill.
Pretty bad performance, to tell the truth. And I’m a big Bill Champlain fan. The electric guitar is out of tune and Bill’s pitch is off in numerous spots (which almost never happens with him). Who am I to say this but…Bill should trust the song and stick closer to the melody. There, I said it.
Bill oversinging as usual and turning the song into crap.
Yuck!!!
