Hard to find anything better than 1970's Chicago. There is a reason why this music is called "Classic Rock" 200 years from now, people will consider this classic music!

Imadrummin strikes gold again! Hauntingly beautiful backup vocals by the Beach Boys and Chicago -- Cetera and Lamm in particular. The irony of the late Terry Kath on lead vocals and singing "Wishing You Were Here" is so deep and profound. We wish you were still here, Terry Kath. Excellent selection and reaction. Thank you, Imadrummin and Harri!

I saw that show too. Then Dennis Wilson made off with Bobby's wife and ruined the collaboration. I saw them together again in 86 it wasn't the same without Dennis Peter and Terry. They did a hell of jam with the 2 bands together. less horns cause the BB were arranging on this. Peter wrote it.

Wow, I never knew Dennis made off with Bobby's wife. The show I saw was at the old Schaefer Stadium in Foxboro, MA which was home to the New England Patriots around 1975. One of the most bizarre highlights of the show was when some fan threw an orange on stage and hit Al Jardine square in the forehead. He shook it off and continued on like a pro.@@robinfra52

From their 1974 album, Chicago Vll, a beautiful ballad written primarily by Peter Cetera, with simple but powerful lyrics. The slow but bluesy melody perfectly compliments the lyrics, highlighted by Terry Kath's vocals, backing vocals by The Beach Boys and produced by James William Guerico, the bands manager who played bass on some of their songs. The horns and electric guitars give texture and depth, with the rhythm section keeping the beat steady and addictive. Just another classic and phenomenal tune by early Chicago. Just an incredible memory. ❤ Lovely reaction Harri. Thanks Harri and Imadrummin. 👏👏 Cheers from Canada. 🇨🇦

Guitarist Terry Kath is the main vocalist on this one, shared with Peter Cetera. Chicago was blessed with a wealth of vocal talent. Keyboardist Robert Lamm was a great singer as well. When they put the Beach Boys on top it's a veritable eargasm. There is another track on this same album that Robert Lamm sings lead on called Skinny Boy. It features The Pointer Sisters on backing vocals. Almost too much vocal talent for one album, LOL

Back in 1975, they embarked on the Beachago tour, a successful run of arena shows when Chicago was in their critical and commercial heyday and The Beach Boys were enjoying a resurgence due to great nostalgia for the 1960s. The bands were brought together by their connection to the music producer, Jim Guerico.

This was the song that I used to listen to on the way home from my then girlfriend now wife's house back when we were living about 150 miles apart. We met in college and lived in the same city during school season but I had to work in the shipyards about 150 miles away during breaks to earn money to pay my tuition. So I would get off work every Friday and drive down to take her out that evening and then drive home feeling very lonely but anxious for the next week to see her again. This song so reminds me of that time in the late 70's.

There's a live performance of this for New Year's Rockin' Eve. Beach Boys Carl, Mike, and Al sang the backups. Members of Chicago were dressed in tuxes and finely coiffed. Beach Boys were dressed in what looks like sailing togs. I always thought R. Lamm sang lead on this, but the video shows Terry Kath. Good performance. Check out Dialogue on the same appearance. Another good performance. Finally, you might want to catch the L&F cover of Wishing You Were Here. (As always, incredible and like D.I.M.E.)

Chicago in 1989 at the St. Paul Riverfest outdoors at the Mississippi river and saw Beach Boys original group back in 1973 at Notre Dame University .Their roadie, Jerry ,from Manchester ,England came up to our seats behind the stage before the concert spent time talking with us. This was one of the songs I insisted be played at my Late brother's homegoing service. Just a couple of weeks before he passed, I told him how much his singing voice reminded me of Terry Kath's on this particular song and he was so moved and grateful;. The thing is, it's the truth. So it played on the slideshow that we had playing at his service. This is the first song I recall him playing over & over again on our Hi-Fi. It's truly beautiful and the harmony the Beach Boys added helped its perfection!!

I love the early stuff by Chicago. Chicago I and II are fabulous albums. I have to be honest though, at some point, the band became unlistenable for me. It started before Terry Kath's tragic passing, so that isn't entirely the reason. The whole Peter Cetera era was abysmal. This song isn't horrendous, but it's far from what I loved about Chicago.
