No mystery at all really. There are many reasons vintage jazz doesn't get respect in our culture. Not all of them commercial, either, some artistic.
Just spent 25 minutes on KZread watching clips about US politics so I turned this one on and do I EVER feel better now?!

Why???
I absolutely Love Elena! Wonder if she could go for a 62 year old Grandfather? Just kidding Elena! Love the Orchestra too! All around Great Number!
So THAT'S how he got the special sound on the violin! LOVE IT! Just wish she sang a bit louder. Hard to hear the words.

hankwilliams150 (Hank Williams?!), I got what you state here, that the singer should have been a bit louder. If she was it'd be good for you, eh?
saludos desde Perú
Very nice and amusing! Very good sound and picture quality But just one thing. The sound mixing is not perfect, if you whant to imitate old recordings. The solo song is far to weak. In original, old recordings the soloist was heard much higher over the orchestra. Partly because there was only one or two microphones!
why you ignore italian jazz of the 1920s? all this american stuff, dont forget in our country we had orchestras, the riviera five, feruzzi, di piramo, jazz gualbert, mascheroni, de risi, jazz band columbia

Hello Caspar, we play it aswell! Tunes like "Conosci Mia Cugina", "Bel Moretto", the italian version of Dinah "Daina" and many others are always in our repertoire. Cheers!

Dario Lavizzari great, good job, ma penso potete anche andare indietro, agli.anni 20, ci sono spartiti per orchestra originali degli anni 20 oscuri foxtrot italiani dai titoli piu bizzarri, inciso forse solo su qualche rarissimo disco stile eaglephone o pathe actuelle, e un mondo dimenticato totalmente ds tutti, cosi siete molto in concorrenza con le grandi orchestre degli usa e uk, potete esplorare nuove frontiere, "one step" "shimmy" "valse boston" made in italy, cercate la mediolana band che suona il fox delle gemme (1926) e qui su youtube

Great stuff - only one thing somewhat ruins the originality; the drummer's cap.

Her singing and strange maneuvers did it for me, which is a shame because she actually has a cloche and realistic 1930-32 style gown on...but that voice is pure ella Fitzgerald knock off.

@@WitchKing-Of-AngmarI can't say I agree - her singing has nothing of Ella but is very much like Helen Rowland's and VERY contemporary!

León Blum Concuerdo contigo, además el tipo de grabación es muy contemporánea. Definitivamente aunque traten de hacer un video con música antigua no les va a salir verse antiguo. El sonido, el video, incluso hasta la cantante no se ve "vintage".
This song is not right for this singer. Her voice is too soft for the energy of the orchestra.
