They need taller buildings outside of the Loop as well. Cities like Toronto have multiple areas with high rises outside of downtown.
After the failure of the Chicago Spire, the Tribune East Tower gives Chicago hope for a more modern look. Construction is slated to begin February 2024. Too many boxy shaped skyscrapers in Chicago, hopefully this design comes to fruition.

Was hoping it would be boxy with its current style to fit in better with the other supertalls. It looks out of place as is

Its' a very nice city, minus the crime.
Unfortunately a few of these projects might not happen. East tribune was suppose to break ground by end of this year, it’s still a parking lot behind the tribune tower, just drove by it last night via the lower level street.
Calling The Sears Tower the Willis tower is blasphemous to an indigenous Chicagoan.

It's a horrible building with all kinds of problems. It's going to take a lot to make that work.
More than a decade without major construction on high rise buildings? This is inaccurate. St. Regis Chicago (1,198 ft), One Chicago (973 ft), 110 North Wacker (817 ft), River Point (732 ft), 150 N Riverside Plaza (752 ft) and more. All these have been completed btw. This video = 👎🏼

You are missing a major tower in the tribune tower east. It is approved for 1422 feet

U showed the trump tower in ny and said it was nearby so I think u meant to show a pic of the trump tower in Chicago
Update: 400 lake shore drive is finally underway but they are building the taller one first.

Ehhh… The St. Regis was completed in 2020. I don’t think “no major development in the past ten years” is accurate. But I’m looking forward to the rest of the list.
The sears tower was taller well past 08. Trying to claim the 88 story Petronas Towers were taller than 108 story Sears Tower because decorative“spires” is a gimmick at best. I’ll be amazed if the twin towers proposal ever gets completed. Sad every one of these is being reduced.

Bro this video has so many editing mistakes in it that it makes it hard to trust the info. Keeps showing rendering for the old spire site intermittently, wrong graphics that don't match what you're talking about, shows nuc trump tower instead of Chicago...

honestly... Chicago puts forth some of the best proposals and then they get to the point where they're almost gonna be built and then something happens. I don't see the skyline getting much larger than it is today. Chicago's building days are largely over as it becomes less significant.

St Regis was just complete a couple of years back. ANd several 700+ buildings were added to the skyline in the last 10 years. Also, most people underestimate Chicago because of the crime. They don't realize that Chicago saw almost 200 companies move to city in the last few years alone. Most companies care less about what happens on the South and West sides of Chicago.

@@TheJustin99 I looked up a few crime maps, and none back up what you're saying here. Also, statistically, the majority of violent crimes are still drug and gang related. It's a big city with lots of people, so I'm sure a crime could happen anywhere, but it does not appear to be typical, not according to what I just reviewed.
