This is more like the Mexican Torta Cubana than a Cuban sandwich, and yes they are very different. The Mexican torta cubana is more about being rich and decadent, whereas cuban sandwiches balance the richness with the mustard and pickles.. just saying this big boy knows his sandwiches ..

Yeah I live in Tampa too and was thinking how in the hell is that a Cuban? It looks good though but definitely not a Cubano. The damn thing is on a brioche roll and isn't even pressed.

They obviously traded quality for quantity. Chicago has easy access to some of the best cheese and pork products and they just throw a bunch of junk on a sandwich and call it a cuban. Thinking about it, Chicago should be able to make the BEST cuban sandwich. Roast pork (shredded? come on) Ham (gotta be some of the best quality ham there) Swiss Cheese (there may be some great substitutes in Chicago, but Wisconsin makes some great swiss) Mustard (of course, it's Chicago) Pickles (again, ^^^^^^) Cuban Bread (get yourself a well buttered bread roll and smash while cooking) Come on, Chicago

I find seeing people wearing gloves way more insanitary than "cooks" not wearing gloves. It gives the user a false sense of cleanliness by keeping their hands clean but not the food.

+INternatiol Beethoven Cuban sandwich has no chorizo, no bacon, no gouda, no eggs, no chipotle mayo... Real cuban sandwich has: pork (pulled or sliced), ham, pickels, swiss cheese, butter and mustard. That's it.
