Welcome to my channel! This is a music reaction channel. For the longest time, I've loved creating content on the internet. I started off with a gaming channel right here on KZread, which eventually turned into a Twitch gaming channel, but as time has gone on I've evolved into doing other things on KZread. For years now I've wanted to create a music channel on KZread, and recently just figured "why not?", so it’s time to give this a go! Give me any suggestion you have for music reactions, and I will do my best to get around to them. As music has fallen further out of my life, I figured this would be a great time to get reintroduced to music.
If you enjoy this video and my reactions make sure you subscribe to the channel, like the video and comment down below which video you would like to see me react to next.
This is a reaction video used to educate and give my feedback on the song and artists.

Their early music is their best music.🎶
The opening track from this phenomenal debut album, Introduction, is jaw dropping. Amazing way to introduce us to this remarkable band, I honestly think it will blow you away.
"Introduction" is the first cut on this album. It is historic!

“Introduction” was written by the great Terry Kath as an introduction to the band. What a way to start your debut album. There is a live Tanglewood version, which you know is great. kzread.info/dash/bejne/Yq6pmMyKgMSdmsY.htmlsi=wLKtg1Yb_qYogJ2s
This was their first album released in 1969, a double album and the start of a string of great albums until 1978 when Terry died and they were never the same.
Chicago called their first album, this one, The Chicago Transit Authority. But, the REAL Chicago Transit Authority got a little upset and sued the band to make them change their name, so they just became CHICAGO.
This whole album is fire. Terry Kath guitar is amazing. Next on this album is an overlooked song " South California Purples "

"South California Purples", nasty guitar, nasty horns!!!!
"This is one of their best," you will say that a lot! Good job, brother!
First five albums are all great
I bought this album when I was 16 and still have it - and now have the CD version too.
Beautiful music! A great reaction, Shawn. A Chicago favorite of mine is "Diaglogue, parts 1 & 2." It rocks!

Definitely a great song, one of my favorites, I really like their early music
One of my favorite bands from my late teens and twenties. Since I played trumpet in the HS band, I tended to lean toward bands with a brass section.
I believe the lead singer here was bassist, Peter Cetera. After Terry's death, he sang most of the love songs Chicago made then, then went solo also singing love songs. Yes, Peter did 25 or 6 to 4

I think Robert Lamb shared lead vocal with Cetera on this one.
If you want a live version of most of this album, you wanna look up Tanglewood which is a great concert, audio and video Terry Kath’s guitar on 25 or 6 to 4 one of the best guitar solos you’ll ever hear
I was 14 when Chicago released their first LP "Chicago Transit Authority" in 1969, which included "Questions 67 and 68", "Beginnings" and "Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is?" - I was immediately hooked and have since purchased every album AND CD in their catalog! You know it's a testament on the quality of their musicianship, performing and songwriting when "Questions 67 and 68" makes the top of my list of favorite Chicago songs! This s is, in my opinion, their best song!!
Beginnings... it's amazing
Poem 58-South California Purples & Liberation. Terry Kath at his best.

Poem 58 is a MUST HEAR!!!!!!! Terry Kath was a guitar GOD! 🎸
When they talk about great bass players, Peter Cetera seldom gets mentioned.

He was good.
This song and Introduction are my favorite Chicago/ Chicago Transit Authority songs 😉 In no particular order. They are both great with an awesome horn section!
I have been suggesting CHICAGO - Questions 67 and 68 for a long time. It is the one that made me take notice of Peter's vocals. Terry;s guitar and the change up. Totally awesome. Don't think the live version is as good. Terry changed it up . But that is the way it goes when you are always improvising.
Great reaction! I don't know if you've reacted to Blood, Sweat and Tears but that is another rock/jazz band with horns from the 70s with several hits that's worth a listen.
'Colour My World' is another you'd like, from their second album. Terry Kath sings the leads on that one. It's a slower piece ballad, mostly piano and vocals. Frank Sinatra wanted to record a version of it, but wanted James Pankow, the writer, to add a verse and he declined.
You really need to listen to Dialogue 1 & 2, it’s two songs, but listen to them together, it’s on the Chicago V album; also there early albums are their best, this album is great
This! This is my all time favorite Chicago song, and one of my favorite songs ever. The bass line is everything and Terry Kath's guitar work is superb. The fact that Peter Cetera can do this kind of work on bass and sing at the same time is amazing. Just an incredible arrangement.
This is my strongest music memory from being 16 and in love ❤❤❤
Definitely one of their best!!!
Lead vocalist here is Peter Cetera, who is also the bassist.
Yes> He is talking about a real relationship he had in 67 & 68 and this is from 69. So from the next album there is a song written by Jimmy the Trombone player about a girl he knew... It is called ...Ballet for a Girl in Buchannon" live (Tanglewood 1970)... and be sure it is 14 minutes because it got cut up. kzread.info/dash/bejne/m3qLxs17ptuqn6Q.html&pp=ygUrYmFsbGV0IGZvciBhIGdpcmwgaW4gYnVjaGFubm9uIGNoaWNhZ28gbGl2ZQ%3D%3D
3:10: "This is one of their best!" Shawn exclaims spontaneously during the second verse -- echoing exactly what this ninth-grader said in the fall of 1971.
Great album! And yes this too is one their best tunes!
I agree, sir. It's definitely one of their best songs. If you did Lowdown and South California Purples, I would be completely satisfied.
I'm one of the biggest Chicago fans ever. Own EVERY album they've put out. Saw my first Chicago concert in 1970. That being said, if you're not aware of a Russian band called Leonid & Friends, you MUST check them out on KZread. Close your eyes and you'll be hard pressed to tell them apart. Amazing. I've now been to multiple concerts of theirs as well and it takes me down memory lane everytime. Look em up, you won't be disappointed.
Here's a very special live Chicago performance. "Wishing You Were Here" with Terry singing lead and The Beach Boys backing him up. kzread.info/dash/bejne/maep2JaBgKq0eLA.html Usually Terry's voice is pretty rough so this is a huge change and really shows off the vocal skills he had.

You beat me to it. It is one of my all time favorites. And do you know about that guitar. (Opps He is playing bass on that song) but the guitar that he is playing from the same concert that you can see in ..Dialogue. Everybody was looking for it for decades until his daughter did a film in search of the father she never knew. It is called ...The Terry Kath Experience.

What happened to the other post with Al Green? I have never seen it before and I was going to down load it. I think my history should have it. BTW that is the recording studio at the ranch. You can see it in... The Terry Kath Experience.

Even "Free Form Guitar"? At the least, an acquired taste
This was at the beginning of their sound really coming together
I see you've done the studio of I'M A MAN, and you asked for a live request. I can't think of a better one off the top of my head, at Tanglewood of course. Straight up jam session!! Cowbells, 3 lead singers, jamming drums, keys, guitar and bass...oh, and some maracas and salsa to spice it up. Must see, Shawn!!
Thanks for all the great music, Shawn. How do you find the time to do all the hard work? It's greatly appreciated.

I totally agree. Shawn's one of my favourite reactors!
The CTA album was huge when it came out and for the next several years, the epitome of party music at colleges. I forgot how good "Questions" was, now I have to find the vinyl and play it.
Woot! One of my FAV albums! Knew it by heart about age of 16. I think if it as one of my Feel Good Albums! Just throw it in and go! Road trip, cleaning, dancing… your up and moving !❤
In Chicago's fifty year history... Questions 67 & 68 was their finest hour.
This is a great album!
On the same album, cue up "Poem 58" and get yourself an ice pack. Nine minutes of PURE FUNK led by Terry Kath on Guitar that will leave your jaw on the floor and hurting! Jimi Hendrix told Chicago that their guitar player was better than Jimi himself, "Poem 58" will show you what he meant!
A great band! 🎶🎶🎶👍
As powerful as these instruments and voices are, and I DO love lots of Chicago's songs, I have a soft spot for "Saturday In the Park." It's so simple and also beautiful! I hope to hear that one on the channel sometime!!
Hendrix thought that Terry Kath was better than he was❤
Great band from the 70's-80's. They were a rock & roll band with horns & blended elements of classical music, jazz, R&B, & pop music. They had a lot of great songs such as "25 Or 6 To 4", "Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is?", "Beginnings", "Feelin' Stronger Everyday", "I'm A Man", "If You Leave Me Now", "Hard To Say I'm Sorry", "Saturday In The Park", "Colour My World", "You're The Inspiration", "Will You Still Love Me?", "Look Away", "Old Days" etc.

Peter Cetera, horns, and Terry Kath shredding on guitar.
Walter Parazaider graduated from my high school (Proviso West) 10 years before me... Needless to say, he was a legend with our high school band
One of my favorite of about 25 more from their early years!Shawn as first listen taking in the music and later the lyrics is what most of us did, rightfully so! Later after the second, third or 5th listen you could pay attention to the lyrics or read them as we used to do back then.Yes Peter sang lead vocals on 25 or 6 to 4.Beginnings is one of the first songs I ever listened to by CTA and is still one of my favorite tunes. It has everything in it. If you play the album version you can hear the marakas fading for a full minute or so on its own at the end of this majestic tune!
One of the greatest songs of all time!!!!!
Please, listen to INTRODUCTION (audio version). Killer song!
Shawn, straight up their song "Introduction" off this same lp is one of their best rockers ever. Many have already written this but just reminding you they're not wrong about it being good.
One of the first Rock Groups to use a lot of Brass!! Chicago is Amazing!! Cover Group (Leonid and Friends) Does Awesome Chicago Covers and Earth wind and Fire. If you don't listen to them you are missing History in the Making!! Shawn your Subscribers are on a roll!!
Stole Chicago Transit Authority from my sister YEARS ago (sorry). Recommend for all. It's great.
They were beyond epic for the first 6 years. Very good after.
One of their best, sure. But understand Chicago has at least a couple dozen best, largely jammed into their first 10 or so albums. Great band
Dialogue Part 1 and 2. Another great Chicago tune similar to this one.
South California Purples is a gem.
Thank you for doing this song. One of my favorites. You can count on me is good too.
This was always my favorite Chicago track. by far. only a modest radio play at the time of release tho.
One of their very best! Just 💜this one! Great reaction!
Great album!
If you like ‘Question 67 & 68’, you should listen to ‘Dialogue part 1 & 2’.
The band was never the same after Peter left.
Question 69….after this are you going to again wait so long before hitting Chicago?
COOL..DONT FORGET LIBERATION...AND 25OR 6TO4
Check out I'm a man❤from this same album. 🥁 🪘🎷🎺🎸
