I do normally agree that midwesterners are extremely nice, but that sounds like it was backhanded. Midwesterners will roast your ass if you're looking too good. Fix your hair in a bathroom as a guy? "Awe you look great beautiful." Maybe it's no "awe bless your heart" kinda thing, but there is a bit of that here.
