It was a television show. In real life Straight men are not best friends with lesbians. Furthermore " Soulmates" is a Hollywood fairytale used to keep Beta Males cuckhold and controllable. Real men do not invest time/ resources into women they are not banging.

I still miss Shay. She brought a certain sarcastic, stubbornness, supportive family quality to the show. I know its been years since her "death", but she was the one who drew me to watch the show every week. So much has changed at 51 and I honestly don't think half of the drama would even be there if Shay was still a part of it. I know it would mean dredging up the past, but I kinda wish we would get some storyline linking back to her. Shay and Kelly aka Shayveride were so close and I miss that connection.

Whenever this episode comes up on TV, I always start crying with Severide, the moment when Shay talks about always being there for each other, him crying and nodding to her… ahhh breaks my heart.

This made me cry. I really loved Shay's character.

I'm late to the Chicago Fire fan club, but I cried most of this episode. I loved Shay so much, along with her friendship with Severide. They had something really special. I'm going to miss her and Dawson together, too. She was the best.

I'm still watching this clip because I'm still not over Shay's death. The whole show changed after they killed her off. I loved her. I'm sick of Gabby and I like Sylvie and Stella, but Shay was the best

This was almost 10 years ago but still there is not other death on tv that shook me like this. They loved each other so much and it's just heartbreaking to see Kelly like this. He just doesn't know how he's supposed to live without her. Shay was the love of his life if you ask me. And he was never the same after her death. 💔

This is agonizingly depressing.

What I think is beautiful about this is that rule number 1 was previously mentioned several times. Even in season 1. So they planned this whole contract thing from the start. That's good writing.

I still can't believe Shay is gone. I love that they dedicated a side of ambulance 61 to her but it still hurts that she's not at Firehouse 51

I finished season 8 and her death still hits me the most

I just watched this episode and I am completely devastated. I haven't stopped crying. I can't imagine station 51 without Shay, I feel like I can't keep watching the series anymore. It hurts much. I can't believe the writers did this, it's just terrible. The worst thing is that before I started watching Chicago Fire I knew that Shay was going to die, but I didn't think it would be so soon. Time was too short, I need more from Shay. I am just broken.

Killing off Shay was a mistake.
