Some people don't want to believe it but this was a prime Jordan playing here, his stats this run were better then the ones in the following year. They were the worse team even with MJ on the field and this shows that one player isn't enough.

Who forgets? No one does. I lived in Chicago, we were PUMPED MJ was back. But dude, it was late March. He hadn’t played in almost 2 years. Not 2 months, 2 years. He was not in basketball shape, and while he showed glimpses of old MJ he showed rust and fatigue too, especially in the playoffs. His legs were dead, jumpers were short late in games etc…. It happened, but the expectations put on him after that long away were ridiculous even for him. And he put up a big fight still. Give him one full off-season to prepare, piss him off, and you saw what happened. He made a mockery of the league the next year and ended Orlando’s future. Shaq bailed to LA and they fell apart.

Announcers and media commented on it AT THE TIME. And it wasn’t just fatigue, it was rust like I said above. It was both. Stupid mental errors you rarely saw from him like getting picked from behind by nick anderson. Nick anderson made comments MJ wasn’t like the old MJ, which is why MJ switched back to number 23 during the series. Everyone was saying this shit for a reason. People try to really overplay this loss by MJ, but it speaks to how insane his resume is that after 18 months away from basketball and then just 17 regular season games, Orlando beating them with home court advantage was considered an upset. I always said, this was then end of "Air" Jordan. MJ was stuck between two eras...he still had the old body, but because of the inactivity and the fact he was 32, he wasn't the demigod level athlete anymore. The way they lost and the increased athleticism of the league required him to bulk up and ground his game to offset his aging. And did he ever come back with a MF vengeance in 1996. His fadeaway jumper and exquisite fundamentals...hell, I think more people remember the MJ from 1996-1998 than the one from 1986-1993.

The Magic were a bad matchup and a lot of people don't want to give them credit for this win. It's more shat Jordan didn't do right than what the Magic did right. Interesting fact in this game 6 that led to the Bulls demise was that Orlando was red hot from 3 going 12-24. I'm sorry... I am not convinced that if the Bulls brought back the same core for the 95-96 season, even with an ever before motivated and rejuvenated MJ, that they would have won the title that year. MJ was MJ and with a healthy and still prime MJ (and Pippen) you were always going to at least have a shot, but the biggest difference between 94-95 and 95-96 was DENNIS RODMAN. Luc Longley and Will Perdue had NO answer for Shaq, but Rodman defended young prime Shaq as well as ANYONE ever could. His energy, rebounding, defensive intensity, almost genius level B-ball IQ, ability to get under the opposing star big man's skin etc. was just about perfect for what the 2nd 3-peat Bulls needed going forward. We all know how great Jordan was, but don't let nobody convince you otherwise, Rodman was the missing piece and the difference.

They wanted Jayson Williams but he resigned with the nets. There were a couple others too. Can’t remember. Rodman was a “reach” cuz he was an absolute cancer in San Antonio, Davis Robinson and Greg Popovich practically gave him away. MJ and Phil were able to keep him under control, rest is history.

But when it comes to a debate between Jordan and Lebron, I think Lebron was more skilled but Jordan was more admired and respected. I mean even at freaken Cleveland for the celebration of the 75th year of the NBA at the All Star game, the biggest crowd pop by far was for Jordan even though he tortured those fans for years.
