The T pins are actually used as key lock for the needles so you can tighten the cable with the needle. They can be used for swatches but I don’t think that’s what they are included for

I own ChiaoGoo Red Lace, Shorties, Mini AND Hiya Hiya. My issues with both are the following (1) They are NOT supposed to remember BUT THEY DO! (2) They Both ( Swivel and Non) tend to snag at times (3) ALL NEEDLE SIZES SHOULD BE OFFERED IN COMPLETE SETS FOR THE EXPENSIVE PRICES WE PAY! Yes The Quality as far as the Needles are Great 👍🏾! But still for as expensive as they are they NEED TO REALLY STEP UP THEIR GAME

@@JennySimon206 there are spin cables available, yes. There is always the risk of catching very fine yarns when the cable is not permanently attached. It’s a trade-off. I would recommend that you buy a set of the fixed circulars with the rotating tip and see how you like them before investing in an interchangeable set with that cable.

I have a question about knitting with wooden needles. Even though the set has metal tips, does the yarn still glide on the wood as smoothly as it would on nickel-plated brass needles? Any insights are appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Andrew! I found these needles to be extremely smooth. Much smoother, in fact, than the regular stainless steel ChiaoGoo needles. I’m comparing them to say, Addi Rockets, they are about the same smoothness. The wood used us extremely hard and fine-grained, so there is no catching, unlike bamboo needles which have a much more noticeable grain. Think black piano keys.

Are these needles are heavier than previous Chiaogoo’s bamboo/stainless?

Wonderful review. I love wooden needles but prefer metal tips. I think these would be a great combination. My only concern would be the tips coming off the needles. This happened on my Karbonz needles.

Do the cords shift forwards and backwards? I tried the kp 360 cables and found the play towards and away from my needle distracting and had to return them.

They do shift forward and back about a millimeter

Just FYI the connectors connect 2 or more cables, adaptors are different (available individually they allow connection of 2 different sizes tips to cables or cable to cable ( small cables can be attached to large range tips. ) see the video of how to use both on youtube. Store connectors and adaptors by putting them in a safety pin through their T-pin hole. T-pins are to gain torque when tightening the tips to cables, especially the small ones. Also of note is that all ChiaoGoo parts and types (Spins, Twists, Twist X-flex,Fortés and SWIV360 are swappable as long as the size ranges are appropriate- mini, small or large.

I have a set of Addi that I love. I really want the Addi squared set but I absolutely do not like the new packaging! The pouches used to be so nice but the new ones are just awful, in my opinion. Is it possible to ever get a set with the old pouch? They are such beautiful needles and they deserve a better holder than the new ones. I also loved the nickel plating on the old ones.

Do the other chiagoo swivel (spin I think) ones snag the finer yarn? I'm looking at buying some needles. I'm a crocheter looking to start knitting. Looks like this (very expensive) set is sold out anyways but yeah, I want to get a set of needles. I hope u can buy those new cables seperatly since the needles are sold out? U can't buy from their website... Hmm..

I would start with one size needle and do a project with it. (To see if you like them) some shops will let you test different brands to see if you like them.

It is the same cord. Chiaogoo makes the "swivel" nylon cords and "red/lace" coated cable cords. You can buy them separately but the bamboo set also comes with the swivel cords.

I like Chiaogoo. I have a few sets that I use. But I think the $325.00 price tag is too high. The case is not leather. The needles are the same as what I have already and had paid half the price for. The only thing different are the metal cables they include. Is it really worth so much more just for those cables? Maybe if they knock the price down quit a bit, I might be interested.

Which pattern is the gorgeous cream cardigan on the model behind you please? By the way these needles are gorgeous too.🥰

The Forte needles are only available in the set as shown with all the stuff. The idea is to have everything in one case, but I hear what you are saying.

They arrived in November 2022, but were immediately sold out. I think they might have another shipment sometime next year.

I would not grip the wood of the tip when using the T pin to tighten or loosen. The wood is liable to be broken off the metal connector part. I always grip the metal parts only because I once snapped one right off.

Since I have none of the Tigers and I want to complete set which ones would you start with😊

I would recommend you get a few pairs of fixed circulars of the different brands and try them out before you invest in an interchangeable set. I don’t mean to cop out on an answer, but that is the advice I give in my shop. You will not know what’s best for you and the way you knit until you try them out.

Hi! I am Donna. I seem to be terribly confused. Could you please help me by defining all these cables? First I thought I wanted the reds but then someone told me they were not the "non memory" cables. Then I was told that the "Spin" set is same as "360swivel". Can you straighten me out here please. I have no idea what to get. These Forte are simply elegant. I love a wood needle. Not crazy over steel although I am interested in the copper. I looked at your site. Hi Donna! Happy to try and help here! There are a lot of terms for the cables and it certainly can be confusing! The ChiaoGoo line my customers prefer is the Twist. The twist line features red “memory-free cables. These cables are made of multiple fine strands of steel that are then coated with a nylon coating. This construction means the cables remain flexible and free from curling and kinking, even if you keep them curled up for years and years. These cables are fixed to the join on the connector, which means the cables do not rotate independently from the needle tips. The new Swiv360 cables have the same construction as the red ones, but the cables are not fixed to the joint at the connector, so the needle tips and cables rotate independently. Imagine holding the cable in your left hand, and a needle tip in your right hand, and being able to rotate the needle between your fingers. Many people really like this functionality as they say it reduces strain on their wrist. Other people do not like the swivel functionality as it leaves a tiny gap between the cable and the join where yarn can catch. So it is very much a personal preference. The SPIN set has the swivel functionality, but the cables themselves are just nylon rather than the coated Memory free cables. I do not recommend this set because part of what makes ChiaoGoo so awesome are those memory free cables.

I'm an avid knitter, love to work with unique and different yarns, but over the years, I have found that you really do have to have the right needle for the yarn you are working with. I beg to differ in regards to the cable and it not catching the yarn. I'm currently knitting a project with chiaogoo lace tips and the swiv 360 cable and IT CATCHES EVERY STITCH. I have also seen a number of other reviewers who say that the cable join catches their stitches. I'm glad I only bought one small and one large cable to try before investing in a whole set because I really REALLY don't like the catching that they both have a problem with.

Hey, thanks for this comment. Agree that the swivel join is more likely to catch than the non-swivel. Some of it depends on the weight of the yarn-finer yarns are more prone to catching on the swivel than heavier yarns.

I agree the cords are terrible. i purchased 4 of the 6 inch cords for my twist shorties. They catch every stitch. What i noticed is the cord is much thinner than the blue cords. It seems to me that they decided not to change the connecting hardware specifically for these cords. So you have room all around the connection for the yarn to catch. I hope they fix this before they send these kits out to the masses. For a 300 dollar set, everything should be perfect.

No. You can’t use a 16” cable with a 5” tip. You would need shorter tips to make that work. Does that make sense?

I am curious - did anyone in your shop actually use the terrible Swivel cables before you recorded this review? They are truly lousy! As someone who newly returned to knitting, I am acquiring lots of new-to-me gizmos. As I have made some regrettable purchases - like these cables - I am searching reviews before making more mistakes. Naturally I am reticent to get more information from a source that appears to be mistaken. Also, I am curious as to why ChiaoGoo markets these bad cords. I have most of their line, which are quality tools. The red cables are amazing!

Hi Deborah! Thanks for taking the time to comment. It's interesting about the swivel cables - some people love them, some hate them. The lovers say that the swivel action is much easier on their wrist and the haters say that the yarn catches. I've had people purchase the swivel cables to replace fixed cables on their other sets. It's really a matter of personal preference. Non swivel cables are available for every size if you prefer those. What do you hate about them?

Disappointed there are no 2.25 mm needle . In the case.

@@CrazyForEwe Not really, KZread recommended a channel called Needle and Maple just after watching your video, i found out they have a variety of hand made leather organisers for knitters or crocheter’s as well for less than half the price of this fake leather Chiao goo one. I’m not a Chiao goo hater as i have one myself the cotton one and its mini’s.

Kind of underwhelmed. Pretty, but "vegan leather" is only plastic. Swivel needles are. . . . superfluous. Sticking with my old Knit Picks set, thanks!
