Just reading this but a suggestion would be to run unraid with your drives so it makes one large drive and if you wanted to, you could have a parity backup so if something happens to a drive you have a chance to replace it without losing everything on a dead drive.

I'm reading that raid of any kind is not good for chia, as available space is what you need more than redundancy. So no wasting space on parity. But, I'm not sure how that compares to the case where you lose storage.

@@goodcitizen4587 so I read on thier site they talk about raid 0. Which has no parity with striping. The only other raid I can think of with parity and striping that acts like 0 is 5. I was able to set my test rig up running a 4 500gb hdds with raid 0 for most continuous space and most speed at the same time. Since you've been doing this longer can you comment on that, and also why raid of any kind is not good?

Hey, I had to stop the application Because during plotting I was getting some kind of errors. At this time, I had 5 fully plotted blocks which already got transferred to my final destination. So I did a restart of the pc and I opened the application then I saw that I still had my existing 5 plots in my finally destination. But then I saw there are some data's in my temp storage (NVME) drive so I thought I will format that and do a fresh plotting to get the max storage. So when i formatted the temp drive and When I my re opened the chia application i see That I lost my link to the plots. It's no more telling that I have 5 plots found but it shows the link to my plots. But It's not getting recognized in the chia software. Can anyone please guide how to fix this. First and foremost, Thank you for taking the time to help us all get started with Chia. I just built a rig, followed your setup instructions, tweaked for my purposes and have started plotting as of about 30 minutes ago. I do have a coup[le of observations as well as questions. In your plot.sh file, I see that you set it to -r 8 which as you had stated is 8 threads. If you are running 8 plots in parallel and your CPU is a 8 core 16 thread CPU, then shouldn't that number be -r 2? I also realized that I set to low of a value for my -n setting in my plot.sh. - How do I fix this? I know that I can update the file, but do I need to stop and start the process if I do or will it just take affect as soon as I save the new config file? - What happens if there is a power flicker/failure? Do I need to delete the in progress plot files and restart? - Where should I be asking questions along these lines so that you are not bombarded?

Your videos are great and gave me a great understanding how this network works. I have one question - I plan to plot/farm Chia on Ubuntu Linux and I'm not sure how to format my drives. Is NTFS going to be the optimal choice or is EXT4 formatting better for Chia? Cheers!

NTFS is not a native format for linux, use EXT4.

I've done the same setup and I'm only getting max 200 Mb/s read write speed on the NVMe drive. Is there any settings adjustment required to get the full potential speed?

I selected the directory that I want to add, but it is not technically added to the plotting space to check the plotting status. Can someone help me please 🙏

Is internet speed critical when plotting/farming?

No, for plotting you dont even need a connection and for farming basic internet speed is fine.

parallel plots doesn't work faster for me,at least at Windows machine there is no difference in total speed I checked that by first doing two plots parallel then one after another and that gives me same time at the end
