India today is Hindu nation only because of this single man, Chhatrapati Shivaji. Under his 2 sons(Chhatrapati Sambhaji, Chhatrapati Rajaram), the Mughal power was destroyed in the 27-year long Maratha-Mughal war. Chhatrapati Sambhaji fought the initial ~14 years in the 27 year long battle but Mughal emperor Aurangzeb subjected him to tremendous torture and eventually had him killed for rejecting islam. Bajirao Peshwa I, the general of Marathas and his brother Chimmaji Appa, after the demise of Mughal power after Maratha-Mughal war, continued on the Chhatrapati Shivaji's legacy.

Indian Forts are kind of ornate for a military complex, and the green of the forest overgrowth make them very beautiful. Would love to see them up close. Also the "Sigiriya rock" in Sri Lanka, though standing in it's foreboding shadow may be unnerving.

Excellent Video !!! Very Informative.. there is no doubt that Mughal rule in India faced stiff resistance at different periods from the great RAJPUT warriors, fierce AHOMS warriors from Assam & from Punjab the brave SIKHS warriors... Rightly did the great Hindi Poet Bhushana, who forsook the royal favours of the Mughal court to come over to Shivaji to record his glories, he sang :-“काशी की कला जाती, मथुरा की मसजीद बनती, अगर शिवाजी ना होते तो सबकी सुन्नत होती.” meaning : (Had not there been Shivaji, Kashi would have lost its culture,Mathura would have been turned into a mosque and all would have been circumcised.) If not for Shivaji and the Marathas, there would have existed a continuous Islamic belt from Morocco to Indonesia. What addition of 1 billion more adherents to Islam would have done to the world power balance or what would have happened to Indian legacy like yoga, ayurveda, music, art and philosophy, is not difficult to guess…. It is worthwhile examining the 'what if' of Indias history, Aurengzeb, Akbars great great grandson, had embarked on the 'Islamisation' of India. The Marathas, inspired by Shivaji, fought Aurengzeb and saved India from following the fate of Persia. The proof of Maratha victory lies in the fact that Aurengzeb lies buried, not in Lahore /Delhi or Agra , but near Aurangabad in good old Maharashtra... Indian history before Shivaji's advent reads like a chronicle of military disasters. Shivaji changed all that. He used Guerilla Tactics very effectively. Shivaji, as a great warrior & visionary laid a strong and solid foundation that after his death in 1680, there was a series of battles fought between Marathas and Mughals from 1681 to 1707 known as 'War of 27 years' and ended with the death of Aurangzeb in 1707. The Marathas eventually emerged victorious and consolidated their lost territories. This was further expanded by the Peshwas. The Maratha empire reached its peak in summer of 1758 with the conquest of Attock, which is banks of Indus river in Pakistan today. Its eastern frontier was today’s Orissa, being ruled by Raghuji Bhosale of Nagpur. Maratha armies had also reached upto Murshidabad, but then retreated and settled for tribute from Bengal and control of Orissa. To the south, in 1758, territories upto the fort of Gurramkonda in Kadappah district were held. Also, Tanjore (Thanjavur) was under Marathas, but that was a different line. In 1761, the PANIPAT war was lost to the Afghans but Marathas RECOVERED quickly like phoenix bird within 10 years and brought the whole of North Indian again under their control during the 1770's under leadership of Madhavrao Peshwa.. Eventually, the Marathas grew stronger and fought the British in three Anglo-Maratha Wars (1775-82, 1803-05, 1817-18), In the First Anglo-Maratha War (1775-1782) The Marathas emerged Victorious. A Vijay Stambh (Victory Pillar) erected to commemorate Maratha victory over British is located at Vadgaon/Wadgaon Maval, close to the city of Pune. The 2nd and 3rd were subsequently lost and British established themselves. (By the way, just for your G.K, Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is also considered as the 'Father of the Indian Navy'.) Jai HIND !!! VANDE MATARAAM !! VANDE MATARAAM !! VANDE MATARAAM !!

Additional Notes: 1.There are solid arguments to support the alternative at 3:10 to be true as Afzal Khan had previously struck down Raja Kasturi Ranga , commander of a southern stronghold, after inviting him for a truce. 2. Afzal Khan was another name for terror during those times. He went under the Title-"Deendaar Butshikan Deendaar Kufrashikan" [Servant of religion - demolisher of the idols - servant of religion - destroyer of the Kaafirs]

Good Video similar to previous one on Maratha Empire . Few additional information which could have been included : Maratha Navy (मराठयचे आरमर )- King Shivaji also formed Maratha under leadership of Father and son Kanhoji and Tulaji Aangre. Titled as (दरया सारंग )Darya Sarang =Admiral/ Head of Navy . Maratha Navy had 2 types of ships dedicated to warfare Gurab (गुराब) And Galbat (गलबत). Maratha Navy commanded sea forts like Sindhudurg (सिन्धुदुर्ग ),VijayDurg (विजय दुर्ग) etc. Maratha Navy successfully thwarted raids from Siddhi of janjira (Ethiopian black origin, Sunni Muslim slave trader ) and Portuguese Empire. People from Cost of Konkan are usually of Fair skin complexion were sold from ottoman empire to Sultanat of Janjibar. Maratha Navy fought it's last battle against British east company and Forces of Peshawa (Prime Minister of Maratha Empire) under leadership of Tulaji Aangre. Maratha Navy also arguably briefly controlled Andaman islands. After King Rajendra chola who conquered Malaya, Sumatra shivaji was only Indian king who raised professional large scale navy dedicated for sea warfare. Incident with Afzal khan General of Bijapur Aadilshahi Sultanat: Before this incident Genral Afzal khan in similar way by treachery killed eldest son of Shahaji Bhosale (Elder brother of shivaji). Afzal khan this modus operandi was quite famous hence shiwaji came prepared.

Marathas are the descendents of rashtrakootas..one of the earliest kingdoms in India, who built kailasa temple complex..also they along with gurjara prathiharas kept Arabs out of Indian subcontinent for close to 400 years..rajaputras are huns who came to India after Gupta period and became indianized to become agnikula kshatriyas by forcing Brahmanas to accept them as ruling class..and that's the same reason why rajaputras became friends with mughals easily(though some fought bravely)..

Since you asked for feedback on the biographical style of video: I generally like the video, and I appreciate the accuracy. However, I think a biographical style needs more of a narrative to it. Your dry, strictly factual approach works well for empires, but a historic figure had a story, a perspective, a personality. We relate to real people differently than we do an empire. Using a narrative/storytelling elements, injecting a little bit of their personality, sharing their perspective, all of these are ways to make a biography more engaging and relatable. The KZread channel "Extra Credits" does a great job of making their "Extra History" videos engaging and relatable by using storytelling and injections of personality. However, they take the embellishments way too far, so they're like the "based on a true story" version of history. I don't want your videos to turn into wild speculation like Extra History. I like how straightforward your videos are. I just think there could be a little more color. For example, your dry, matter-of-fact description of his escape in baskets was a missed opportunity. That event was just begging for some narrative tension, building anticipation in the viewer. Your verbal delivery was also dry, when it could have been helping to build the excitement. You mentioned in the beginning that his mother taught him to be a devout Hindu. Perhaps you could reference her again later, and give some insight into how that may have impacted his actions later on in life. I would have also liked to hear more about what his contemporaries had to say about him, though given with a caveat/grain of salt if they're enemies.

If you look closely. First Hokage's story is similar to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Both established Konoha and Swarajya. Both had Will of Fire. Both Konoha and Swarajya were established by combining all clans into one Nation. Both opted for peace. Both fought wars all their lives. Both Lost brothers in wars. Both second Hokage Tobirama and second Chhatrapati Sambhaji were killed in action in war. Both third Hokage and third Chhatrapati Rajaram expanded the power of Konoha and Swarajya. Both 4th Hokage and Peshwa Bajirao were known for their speed. So it's uncanny similar to each other.
