    Sir I watched your video only yesterday. I followed your advice and wrote down the Dorman Y part number. I went by auto zone here in the Memphis area yesterday. Today is 9-23-23 and I did exactly what you said, got up 530 this morning, drank some coffee, and got to work. It took me couple of hours but it's all done and NO LEAKS! You saved me a bunch of money! BTW, my truck is a 2007 silverado classic crewcab, 4.8 but it looks exactly the same as your video so far as the set up is concerned. Thanks again 😎

    I have exactly the same problem in a 2007 tahoe. I was already scared, I thought that the antifreeze was getting into the combustion chamber or that the pump did not work but it is leaking from right there and thanks to your video I now know how to repair it 😃. thank you very much man 👍

    Great video. I haven't run into this problem before, this video is much better than the others, kudos! I gotta say, older vehicles just don't have these problems, all the fittings are metal and ring gear clamps won't break them. No ridiculous plastic clamps. I'm so glad Dorman makes this part in metal!

  • @TerenceDIY

    @TerenceDIY

    4 ай бұрын

    Oh, you gotta bleed the system. Remove the reservior cap and let the truck run. Watch the temperature hand closely. The hand will probably get close to running hot but it will eventually settle in the middle as the air escapes. Once it's running normal for 10 minutes or so, you can shut the vehicle down and then top the antifreeze off. You can also top it off as it is running during the bleeding process.

    Do you have a video on heater core flush for this vehicle I was thinking of flushing through the hoses where the y connect is towards the water pump instead of unhooking hoses from the firewall since they are hard to get off. My heat is lukewarm but not hot I’m thinking it might just need flushing anyway input you have would be great happy holidays

  • @TerenceDIY

    @TerenceDIY

    6 ай бұрын

    I don't have a video, but have you checked your thermostat? If it's an original thermostat, years of coolant build up can cause it not to function properly. Although it's not running hot, it can result in the heat not getting hot. You can check by feeling the hoses going to the heater core to see if they are hot when the vehicle is up to temperature. Also, if that's not the case, I would flush the entire system by just disconneting the top radiator hose and run a garden hose there, remove the cap from the coolant reservior so the water can discharge from there and the radiator or vice versa. Then, fill it with concentrated coolant only adding 25 percent water to the mix.

    If you have a code scanner, even a cheap one, you could diagnose your temp sensor and or gauge pretty quickly. I would do that so you can find a definite answer. The code scanner will pull the accurate temperature from the ecu/ecm in real time. I'm curious to see would it match up with what the gauge is reading.

    Nope. I used Peak in which is compatible with any fluid or is GREAT by itself. Here is a link to it (below). Look at the reviews anywhere on it.
