Very helpful. Do you have to disconnect the battery for this repair?

"There's a little tab at the top, and you gotta push down on it" Then you put your thumb on the 'tab' so we can't see it. That connection is almost inaccessible. It's the only challenging thing about the whole job, and it in no way disconnects as easy as you imply.

Thanks for this, I was afraid I would have to take the cap off the back to get at the harness, which would require taking all my tools and everything out. I’m having the same problem with the bottom light on mine and the socket has gotten so corroded I can’t get the bulbs to work any more. I can’t see any evidence water getting in though, how were you able to tell that was your problem? Could you see it filling up? I don’t want to change the harness just to have the same thing happen again.

I did see the water in the bottom of the light so that made me look around at the lens really close and there was a hairline crack in the lens that's how the water was getting in.

I have a 2018 and I cannot believe that GM designed such garbage. There is NO inner fender well shield to block all the mud, salt, rocks and other debris from getting packed in the fender. When I pulled off my tail lamp thinking I just needed to replace bulbs it was full off debris. Now I have to replace the harness because it caused a broken wire. GM engineers…you should be ashamed of yourself but honestly it probably came down saving a lousy dollar. Boo!!!

Anyone know if the new Colorado’s fixed the issue and sealed up the fender?

I had recently bought new taillights, they have the 8 pin plug connector but on my Sierra 1500 it doesn't seem to connect anywhere cuz it's a 6 pin

I believe it was around 140 bucks but then again I know my company gets a discount so it might be a little bit more money to be honest you can find the same harness online for probably half that cost.

Are the driver and passenger harness the same? Or do they require specific for each side?
