Thank you. First chirping I heard, in my 1.4 Cruze, came from loose spark plugs 2 years ago. (No check engine light on that). NOW I have a louder squeak with check engine light on and stabili track and traction service lights comin on and poor idle, esp. braking at stop in drive. 😟 Sure sounds like bearings near the alternator along the serpentine belt. Or the tensioner? 🤔 Haven't thrown the OBD scan on it yet... I will investigate further... BUT BIG THANKS FOR THIS VIDEO...👍

man i just wanted to say thank you my machanic had changed out my spark plugs an ive had this isssue for months the dumb f*** told me it was the transmission took me less then 30 mins to fix and it was all because his machanic didnt screw any of the bolts down was able to unscrew with just 1 finger

Same with my daughters car , changed the whole pulley system damn near to find out this might be the problem

You can spray soap + water lightly on the pulleys. I honestly just take the belt off and turn it on, listen for it for a few seconds then shut it off. Do not do this with a hot engine, doing this smartly can’t cause harm as it’s the same as throwing a belt and quickly pulling over and shutting your car off. If it’s freezing out you have more time since it’s unlikely you’ll overheat your engine, but use caution… this is to just verify the squeak from the pulleys

Probably your crankshaft seal.

did yours do it all the time?? my daughters does this while idling but when stepping on the gas it stops for a while

Mine was off and on as well. Best way to tell is check for that constant sucking at the top of the valve cover. If it’s a 1.8 like mine it should be on the top left. I’m pretty sure it’s on the top right of the valve cover on the 1.4 turbo. If you can catch it whistling and check that, you have your problem. Best of luck!

Didn't put any RTV sealant on the joint between the timing set and the block/head....
