I’ve recently developed the chirping noise at start up in my Suburban. I’m active in an online group so I knew what it was. After seeing so many videos about hose clamps, I stumbled across yours and man, you are a lifesaver. It took me 2 minutes and the chirp is gone. Plus, as an added bonus, cold starts and acceleration sound way better. Now, it’s time for a Flowmaster. Thanks man!

Thank you dude.. I was looking into my throttle cable, tensioners, etc trying to figure out what the f the chirping sound was.. Mine is on start up and when accelerating. This is exactly what it is. Gonna order a AFM disabler and crack the flapper valve open. Much appreciated. Saved me some sleep on this one lol

Nice this was my question. I have warranty still and ordered a paradox muffler to install. I already have a boost AFM disabler so I guess I’ll rig the flap open in case I need to make it stock later on.

I cut mine right off when I swapped mufflers, sounds beautiful in or out of AFM mode. Yeah there’s a rumbly drone on the freeway but I like it.

Thank you!!! Just did mine today!! Stock exhaust, 2022 5.3, covered resonator screens, I’ll drive it a bit and if we need more than we’ll just have to replace the muffler!!!😁😁😁

I just used 2 ZipTies to hold it open. It takes a little "finagling" and a lot of patience... but it works.

Not sure how the hell you was able to push that spring in and twist it to that other section, but I tried for ever with no luck. I ended up holding the flapper open and putting a small hose clamp around it and tightened it down. Doesn't move at all.

I don’t mind mine operating as designed. My problem is, mine was seized and I can’t get it to operate freely. I suspect it has been stuck open, but I didn’t mark it before I freed it up. I think carbon is restricting movement, and there is n way to remove the carbon in the pipe. Guessing I’ll have to rig it open. Clockwise to full open, right?

With the flapper held open or removed completely, you can hear a drone... depending on your system, it isnt too bad. Almost sounds like a subaru lugging at low-RPM

I swapped the factory muffler for a CherryBomb Salute SA1229 is the part number. I took the flapper out when i did. I dont even notice the drone unless i listen for it, or if the radio is off. It isnt really that bad. I noticed a significant increase to mpg and also better performance (could just be my mind... spent money, so that makes it quicker) but i know before if i punched it from a roll, it would chirp the tires. Now it light them up hard enough that traction control engages and ruins the party

@@DrDennis i did. Lost the third cat in a boating accident, 3" axle dump with the CherryBomb salute, s&b closed box CAI, and a tune on a 2018 silverado (to disable AFM [until i can afford a proper delete, thank you JB], modify the TC lock-up and trans shift points, along with cleaning up the factory calibrations) and she woke right up

Better to use clamps I think, when you slide the spring tab, it’ll be open when idled, but drive then it’s possible it’ll be closed.

I did this but I’m honestly not sure I turned it the right way. It is locked when I try to twist one way and twisted a good amount the other way. Is it possible for it to get stuck closed?

Just use your best judgement bro, if exhaust is traveling down the pipe just remember the exhaust flap opens with pressure

It's designed to lower exhaust sound at idle or low rpm. Emissions (EPA) have nothing to do with the valve.
