They haven't updated their website with these new pices. I just built an RS awd on their site, and it listed $60,215 before the credit. One would think they would adjust the website along with the release of the news. But, hey....a manufacturer's website isn't typically their strong suit. Mercedes has vehicles on their lots for purchase, yet you still can't build them on their site. You would think it would be though since the vast majority of people go their first.

I'm interested in an affordable EV SUV but every time one is announced I go and compare it to the "gold standard" Tesla Model Y. Today the Model Y is $36,490 with 260 mile range and $41,490 with 310 mile range. So, I'm not feeling compelled to buy an experimental Blazer. The discontinued Chevy Bolt EUV though, that was a good deal and a good car.

The price cuts make sense in light of their disastrous start. I'm planning on waiting for the Ioniq 5 refresh as the stop sale spooked me. I have a Bolt but am (obviously) disappointed in the low charging speed and wished for AWD (ie dual motor) and was floating the idea internally of "upgrading" to the Equinox EV to improve on those things. The space and features are about the same, the charging is 3x faster (which still puts it well below Hyundai or Tesla) but the second motor in the Eq is a joke, basically a golf cart motor and nowhere near enough power for the $$$$. Have to wait for the next round of "new platform!" to see if they get it right finally.

@Cyrribrae good points, and I expect these vehicles will have higher depreciation than many other EVs that have better design and engineering. Problems with early vehicles suggest there will be many issues after long-term use before most vehicles arrive on the used market. GM's strategy of launching only higher priced trims initially will also increase depreciation.

Blueberry/Lemon...Yikes! Trying to imagine that taste combo. LUV Scones and the overall design of the Blazer, but the Equinox price point has my focus. Due to the mild winter in our area, the Blueberries should be fat and juicy. I always put up about 4-gallons a season. Did you say FWD for the Blazer? One of the features that is attractive to me about the Blazer is that it was going to be RWD and AWD whereas the Equinox was going to be FWD. I much prefer RWD to FWD, so a consideration to factor.

@@rcpmacYes, this is one of the key reasons why automakers are so addicted to "premium" EV models. The cost difference between a slow 9 second motor and a fast 4 second motor is pretty small. So they put in the fast motor and call it a "premium" car to justify the high price. It's the only way they can cover - or almost cover - the cost of the battery. Since the real cost is in the battery, they can't do the reverse - they can't just put in a slower motor and sell the car for cheap. The only way to make the car cheap is to massively cut back the range, which would be hard to sell. There is an alternative, which the Chinese and Tesla have both figured out. This is to take EVs very seriously, start from a blank slate, and scrape together every little bit of range and efficiency you possibly can during the design and engineering stages. Unfortunately, the legacy OEMs have a corporate structure that does not allow for this approach.

IMO, if they want everyone to transition to EV‘s, I feel like all EV should get a tax credit. Doesn’t matter where the batteries are source from. We get everything else from China so with exception of the batteries I mean to me it doesn’t make sense EV’s need to be more accessible to more people. I mean the prices of EV’s in the United States is almost ridiculous. I mean I get first starting off. You have start off with a higher EV before you get to the masses but even then 48,000 $40,000 for a vehicle is just still too expensive for most people. So I would love for China to bring their vehicles over to the US. Yes, I know they were slap a big teariff but it still would be cheaper than the EV‘s in the US.
