In ICU it is very difficulty to manage position for postural drainage... Some time you can't access area for chest PT due to tubes, drains, or sometime sergical procedure. We need constant support for Nursing staff and ward staff for proper chest PT and Limb PT. Alone is very difficult, With limited support we have to give our best.. With experience you can manage..

You can give chest physio with tube feeding.. 60 to 70 % patient are with tube feeding in ICU. you have to wait 1:30 to 2 hours after feeding... Or you can give before tube feeding and tell nursing staff to wait for 15 to 20 minutes to feed..

Chets PT is given for to maintain breathing and to win for self respiration. If patient in tracheal ventilation with vantilator or without vantilator you can give chest Physiotherapy.. And suction is compulsory after chest PT, If you not able to suction ask nursing staff. Tracheal ventilation called intubat and removing of tracheal tube is called extubate. Most of MD doctor call Physiotherapist during extubate for chest Physiotherapy.. Hope this will help. I am ICU incharge physiotherapist..
