Tbf, I learned chess by myself and it took me a hot minute to realise that, in order for the game to not end on a draw, the king HAS to be under attack by a piece in order for the checkmate to occur. Trapping the king so he can't move and then going for the kill is something I did at least a dozen times until I realised what I was doing wrong and why the game were always ending on a draw, and that's probably what happened there. Either that or the white player just sucks. As for which scenario portrays the truth... I guess we'll never know.

@spacevspitch4028
5 ай бұрын
@@justawhitescreen4050I still don't get it with that explanation 😭
@isavenewspapers8890
4 ай бұрын
@@spacevspitch4028Yeah, they didn't explain it correctly. (tl;dr: The conditions for stalemate are that the player whose turn it is cannot make a move, and their king isn't in check. This results in a draw.) Let's say a player is playing chess, and it's their turn to make a move. But as it turns out, they *can't* make a move. None of their pieces are able to do anything. Because of this, the game is over. When this happens, the outcome of the game depends on whether or not the player's king is in check: - If their king is in check, then it's checkmate. That's what checkmate means: a player's king is under attack, and they can't do anything about it. In this case, the opponent wins the game. - If their king is *not* in check, then it's stalemate. Essentially, this means that the player can't do anything, but their king is not in immediate danger. Stalemate results in a draw. As an example, imagine a position with the white king on a1, the black king on a3, and a black queen on c2, and it's White's turn. White can't make a move here, because their king is completely boxed in and they have no other pieces. However, their king is not in check. This means it's stalemate, so the game is a draw.

Bro forgot ladder checkmate
as 1200 elo player too many pieces can cause accidental stalemate very often

The first draw I ever had, I was up a ridiculous amount of material, position completely winning, etc. Suddenly the opponent just throw every pieces they had to my line of fire. So I forgot about find checkmates and just went nom nom nom. When I took the last pawn... The stalemate notification popped up lol.

This is me. I can never checkmate. If he didn't show those options I probably would do the same.
I swear bro in every game if u make even the smallest mistake the game is either a draw or a loss 💀
His goal was to find a drawing move since there was plenty of checkmates

i like how he is “not” crying at the end
😅 lol he found mate not knowing is stalemate after 4 checkmate threat lol that hilarious
Bro blundered that easy mate in 1
I geniunely believe the last move is a mouse slip.

Yeah so a he got in a "stalemate" Basically a stalemate is that if your opponents king or your own king cant move without getting in a check without being in a check on its own, its a draw
@spacevspitch4028

@@justawhitescreen4050I still don't get it with that explanation 😭
@isavenewspapers8890

Mate is temporary, symmetry is permanent.

That might be something I'd do. Troll 'em by dragging out the mate then give up a draw as an apology
I like how it was mate if white moved 1 square further
He didn’t want to make the same mistake twice lol
I could hear in Gotham’s voice that he was annoyed, he missed so many mates and then STALEMATED
